Re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)
What's up everyone. Life long Skin's fan here. I've been a member of Warpath for years but this is my first post. Bill Polian was on Mike and Mike in the Morning today and also confirmed that the video on YouTube is legit.
Because this is my first post I can't post the link but you can go to espn's website and then espn radio to listen to the audio. |

Re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)
Why do some people assume that signing Manning is a short term fix?
We can continue with whatever plan the FO has to rebuild the team. Peyton Manning just accelerates and elevates the quality of QB play and allows time to groom/try out several different QBs of the future while Peyton plays for 2-3 or more years. Last edited by 30gut; 03-07-2012 at 09:20 PM. |

I will admit I would like to see what PM could do with FD, Moss, and especially Hankerson.

I see us trading down if we get Manning taking Stephen Hill and Mike Adams

If you guys think we are really wanting to trade all that for RG3 think again, BA and MS aren't about trading picks like that.

well if they cant get manning, i want to trade up for RG3. just saw on espn ticker that Chiefs, Broncos, and Cardinals have reached out to manning, and the jets too.

![]() Still I think it's safe to say we have enough viable rumors linking us to a trade up with St. Louis. Just because they horded picks last year doesn't mean they'd be adverse to trading them this year. If they get Manning then fine trade down and hoard picks but if we don't get Manning we all but have to trade up for RG3. I mean really, who else is there besides Manning and RG3 that can stop the staff from getting fired and preventing another episode of roster turnover that would make the stockpiling of picks a moot point? Quality over quantity my friend, quality over quantity.

Did a year of Rex Grossman getting game balls from the other team and John Beck mistaking the NFL for a game of 10 Mississippi not teach us anything? You may frown on the Panthers and use them as an example but I'm looking at a team that went from 1st overall in the draft to 6-10 and a bright future. They're talking about playoffs this year. Us on the other hand, we're wondering if our coach is going to make it past this year and weather or not we would have to deal with a large amount of roster turnover for the new coaching staff that would replace him. All of that trading down, adding picks, young talent that you guys love. A lot of it will be for naught when the new regime starts to realize that a lot of those guys don't fit the new new system, after which the cycle will repeat it self. I know this is sacrelig but the QB is the foundation of any team, not the line. You don't have a QB chances are you're not going anywhere in this league. Maybe you can sneak into the playoffs with an easy enough schedule and a couple of lucky injuries to division opponents, but other then that good luck getting there year in and year out with the Kyle Orton's of the world. I mean for God's sake look at Peyton and the Colts. They were starting one of our Training camp cuts in the Super Bowl at Guard along with an UDFA at LT IIRC. the QB is the horse not the cart.

Where to begin? RGIII is a very rare talent for a QB. He has sub 4.4 speed, an exceptional passer (before runner) ability to progress through reads quickly, tremendous work ethic and apparently extremely "football" smart. He plays with a chip and thinks he should be the #1 pick. We have a pretty decent RB core that really looked to pick up steam towards the 2nd half of the season. Our WR will no doubt be better this year with the additions of either VJax, Colsten...I think you get my drift here. TE, lets see Davis is a tremendous talent and if cooley is healthy could be one of the best TE tandem in the NFL. O-line was killed by injury early. Williams, Lichenstieger (LG) Moore, Chester, and possible FA additions to the right side will make the Oline better. Lets not forget the guys that came in and played last year, did pretty damn well for never taking a snap. Our secondary can be said to be questionable at best. Wilson came on at the end of the year, and Hall is hall. However with the young guys playing last year, gomes in particular i dont think lack of depth is a fair critique. LB core, Fletch isn't going any where, Riley will be a beast as he showed last year, Jackson is coming on. And the D line played pretty damn good too. Bowen, Cofield, Carriker, and Jenkins, Nield, I really think you are allowing the record do your thinking. I personally am excited about the direction this team is headed. Your assesment seems a little off if you ask me. |

Re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)
Oh and regarding Cam Newton. Dude I live in Charlotte, and let me tell you what that one kid has done for Carolina Panthers football. he has exploded this city into excitement. They lost a bunch of games, but it wasn't because of him. the D was absolutely devistated by injury. they lost more games in the end because the D couldn't finish the game, not because Cam couldn't play. That team will be a very good team this season when they get all the players back on D and have a creative draft.
RGIII would be an extremely good thing for this franchise. That stadium will be jam packed to capacity rather than announching a cell out and having 70K people there. Plus the kid can play and will bring a level of excitement at QB this franchise has never seen. |

Re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)
IF and that a big 'I don't want peyton but what does it matter he could still sign here' if, we get him, expect us to draft either Johnathan Martin or Blackmon, should he fall to us...
