I would expect us to release a couple players any minute now.
If we sign him for Eric Deckers contract, that is a BIGTIME deal for us. I won't believe it until I see it.

Re: DeSean Jackson meeting with the Redskins on Monday

The Redskins won in '87 and '91 with an excellent set of pass catchers that helped to lead the team. Yes we had a running game, and last time I checked we still have a good one. But we also had Clark, Sanders, and Monk. Those three did all kinds of things on offense to help alot of areas.

Not to mention we had one hell of a defense those years.

Say this move gets done. Well bang we have three good WR, a good RB, a LT, and some interchangeable pieces on the interior. Draft a RT. O is basically set unless Gruden wants to add speed at RB (which I think we have enough of in Helu)

You could realistically spend 4-5 other picks on the defensive side of the ball and pick up some quality depth, special team players, and hopefully 1-2 starters.

What was our salary cap situation in 87 and 91?

This is a very fair point. But there are still examples of WR-laden teams in salary cap era who won it all.

We had great receivers, however we had a dominant OL / DL in both years. Without the Hogs putting Timmy Smith on the map in SB 22 and the least sacks allowed in NFL history in '91 (outside of a give-up final game where we rested starters). Those teams don't win the SB.

I'm not against the DJax signing, but it's got to be a cap friendly, back-loaded (as much as possible) contract where we can cut him loose if needed after 3 years. His speed/quickness is his only weapon and he's 27.

We also won't be a playoff contender each year with DJax, Garcon & RG3, but a medicore-poor OL & defense.

And this cautionary post by John Keim of ESPN:

NFC East Blog - ESPN

Good points made here but let's hope we don't have the same outcome as the Eddie Royal deal...

Re: DeSean Jackson meeting with the Redskins on Monday

is this a DS influenced move?

grant paulsen said on the junkies that in 2011 the DS went to shanahan and basically stood up on the table demanding that we sign randy moss and that shanahan said flatly no, he cant play football anymore.

it seems the DS loves big name receivers. thankfully the bengals bungaled the offer we made of 2 1st for ocho cinco.

I was at Ruth Chris last night as my GF bought these tickets to a sit down eat and drink with Morroco Brown and Scott Campbell. There were a few questions about his involvement. They danced around the question but basically said.."Dan's a fan, but so are Dwight Schaar and Fred Smith"...

I love Ruth's Chris.

But I can't see why Dan wouldn't want a guy like DeSean. He'll sell tickets, that's for sure. Jersey sales will go up, etc.

Hopefully our vets can talk to him and bring him down to reality because his ego will get in the way.
