I don't like off season rankings because they generally don't mean much.

It's easy to see that the corps is quite improved. After 4 games, there should be a definite feel about how good they can be.

Andre Johnson, while an awesome individual and overall human being, HAS regressed the past 2 or three seasons. I always have him on my fantasy team, and he underwhelms more often than not if I remember correctly, and I think I do. And another thing. Stating that Brandon Marshall is definitively better than Pierre Garcon is a stretch. Garcon is coming into his own, and played awesome last season with average quarterback play. He isn't afraid of the middle, and is a load to bring down after the catch, with great speed. I'd say right now him and Marshall are neck and neck.

i love garcon, but i'd say BM is right next to CJ as far as receivers. he's never had a great qb, but it hasn't stopped him.

They both have good things going for them (garçon and Marshall). I watched a few games last year, and as good Marshall is he disappears at times. He is good but he is a lot of flash.

At this point as long as Jefferey is healthy I see him as surpassing BM. Just like Julio has done in Atlanta.

Our #3, Andre Roberts, is better than their #3(who is it anyway?), but Marshall and Jeffery are so good that Chicago's WR corps is still better. My two cents...

Stat wise they were all very similar last year. Garcon led the world in receptions. Yardage wise they were all extremely close. Td's Garcon was lacking but DJax had more than Jeffrey. So Im not sure how much more superior any of them are to any other at this moment in time. Id say that with Roberts in the mix at three we have the edge actually.

You can't compare our WR crew to any other team's b/c 1. 2/3's of them weren't here last year so we don't know the effect they'll have on each other or the team as a whole and 2. Griffin was a mess last yr.

Glass half full...Griffin he repeats his 2012 season and Djax makes the middle a honey hole. That happens, we have a much better core than Chi town.

Anyone else notice how this thread has evolved way past the DJax signing?

Brandon Marshall is more physical than Garcon, a stronger red zone threat. That's what separates him from Pierre.

Though I agree that Pierre is vastly underrated leaguewide, he's a bonafide #1.

Has it struck anybody how similar Pierre and Jackson are to Monk and Clark? Monk had the opportunity for so many catches because of the space created by Clark. Pierre will go ape this season.

I think Garcon is nothing short of a beast after the catch.

i was watching the ravens game from 2012, he caught a screen and turned it into a near td running all the way across the field. he is absolutely amazing.

probably my favorite play of his was the thanksgiving catch (that he had to reach back for) and run for the td. he has BURNERS!

As complete a player as Garçon is, I still think the edge goes to Marshall.

Yes, I thought about that almost immediately. Now if we can get a set of hogs, and dexter, Wilbur, Mann and Green on defense... Championship!

At least this time if Garcon has trouble staying healthy the receiving corps won't become nearly the liability it has been in past years. For a while now I've believed that WR's need QB's exponentially more then QB's need them.

However during a QB's formative years the benefit of talent at the receiver position is much more pronounced than when they become fully developed. In other words before you can have a QB reach the Manning/Brees/Brady level of turning scrubs into pro bowlers it's critical to have guys that can 'bail out' a young QB, if for nothing more then to help maintain a high level of confidence in the developing QB.

For example with Manning he benefitted tremendously from having Wayne and Harrison as well as Edgerrin James before reaching the level where he was producing seasons with three thousand yard receivers and encouraging people to put Brandon Stokley on their fantasy team. In more recent times we've seen the impact that Julio Jones and Roddy White have had on Matt Ryan turning him from an ultra efficient game manager into a top teir passer.

For us RG3 has shown us he can produce with a solid at best receiving corps so it'll be interesting to see what he can do with the current stable of receivers.

Re: Redskins Sign DeSean Jackson

I agree, our WR's are amazing on paper. But we really can't be in the conversation for the best WR corps until we hit the field. WR's are made from the QB play, offensive scheme and offensive line protection. If we prove those things, we will be considered among the best.

I think the interesting part will be what happens if times are tough. If/when we're winning, it's easy. If we have a bad couple of games -- how will DJax and our team respond. Will they stick together or start pointing fingers...

A guy like Marshall or Andre may have size on Pierre. But they dont have his jets. Not comparing but Pierre often finds seperation, on an elite level. Pierre is key on what made the Jax pickup so ridiculous for us because we already had a playmaker. Hes by far the most underrated #1 wr in the league. Its his heart and work ethic. Not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog. Im not gonna get into DJax i still think his attitude will hurt us at some point unless he grows up fast. But hell make plays and his presence just turned us into a juggernaut on offense.
