Re: 2014 NFL Draft: Rounds 2-3

Here something to make people feel better:

The Cowpukes gave us an extra 3rd round pick to get a guy that has been suspended three times for off-field issues.

I think we made a mistake by passing on a talent like Brooks at 78, in a serious position of need....and S is becoming much more of a premier position with the spread Os and 6' 4" plus TEs who can run.

I like a mauling G as much as anyone, but we could've gotten that later IMO.
I was torn after that Murphy pick. Part of me was going
"Man relax, a lot of good players still available and another couple picks coming up. Lets wait and see."

The other part was going

"NO, never forget 2008. Remember after your initial freakout you choose to give the three pass catchers a chance and how did THAT work out for you. Think how cool you'll be a couple years from now when this guy busts and you get to say you knew it from day 1.Feel the hate."

Probably a good pick by San Fran. Picking up a guy who they'll stash on the IR and end up with a very good player on their OL.

It's definitely a good pick for a team who always has so many picks. Did they say that Lattimore might not be ready though even this year during the network coverage?

It's still a good risk for a team who has enough resources to be able to take flyers.

Re: 2014 NFL Draft: Rounds 2-3

It's almost impossible to have a good-looking draft when you don't pick in the top 40. Doesn't mean they were wrong to trade down, necessarily. It's just that when you don't pick in the first round because you throw a silly amount of picks around, and then move down in the second round, you won't have a shot at the blue chip talent in the draft.

It's okay though. They'll do work tomorrow. Gruden developed many day 3 offensive guys in three years with Cincinnati.

Definitely agree on DB picks tomorrow.

Yeah, they're using IR for extra roster spots, not unlike this franchise used to do.

Thanks, sadly though even though its meant to be hyperbolic its actually kind of true.

Theres actually a video though of me shortly after the Trent Murphy pick when I went off on the Redskins front office (aka Todd and Travis). Luckily my friend the Arbiter was there to calm me down. Could have done though without the kick between the legs from Cortana.

Yeah before we picked Moses at some point, was listening to it on Sirius on the road back from the track. It is very hard to follow what is going on in the draft due to all the interviews and such. It was easier yesterday in round one, but in two and three it is rough. They are way late on getting picks in. Plus trying to following the Wiz.

Re: 2014 NFL Draft: Rounds 2-3

Not to unleash my inner Kindergarten Ninja but as much as I love Jordan Reed I'm concerned about his durability going forward as was shown in a chart posted a couple weeks earlier. Right now I'm seeing the following available:

Colt Lyerla {TE Oregon}
Arthur Lynch {TE UGA}
Jake Pedersen {TE Wisc}

Lyerla would be extremely tempting if we didn't have Reed but obviously if your trying to find a 2nd TE and your 1st one is mostly a receiver you want someone thats a little bit of a blocker. Not to mention scouts Inc gave Lyerla the worst possible grade for intangibles 5 which translates to marginal (1 is exceptional and the highest rating)

Quote:
There are questions concerning his ability to handle authority and his commitment to football. Oregon head coach described Lyerla's absence as "circumstances" following 2013 Tennessee game. Lyerla complained to The Oregonian newspaper that he felt description could be unfairly interpreted. Suspended for the 2013 Colorado game for violating team rules. Left Oregon for personal reasons the following week. Arrested on charges of unlawful possession of cocaine and interfering with a police officer October, 2013. Plead guilty to cocaine possession December, 2013. Sentenced to 10 days in jail and 10 days suspended Eugene Register-Guard reported. Posted tweets supporting conspiracy theories surrounding Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting and later apologized.
On second thought I say steer clear of Lyerla. Seems like Jeremy Stevens Jr.
