HTTR!

First in the NFC East!

As I have said all along...the one thing I can say about the Redskins team this year.. At least they have some heart and guts!

IMHO...at least they showed some heart and guts today!

I have to say that for the first time in at least 3 years, I am at least encouraged to think that the Redskins might actually turn things around and in a couple of years and be a winning team some day soon!

Re: Skins gmen GameDay thread.

Since I am using the 1st place thread to only celebrate, I will level the mood in here a little.

First off, huge win that does NEED to be said FIRST AND FOREMOST. No matter how you do it, winning is the needed result. Ok so.....

For a game the 'Skins were dominating so soundly for 3 and a half quarters, we nearly gave this one away because of 2 quick scores. In all honesty this game should have been out of reach before it even got to the 4th quarter. Lots of missed opportunity early on, and did anyone else think Gruden went way too soft on his play-calling on the final drive of offense prior to the Giants getting their first TD? It was first & 10 inside their 20, score was 17-0, and I know a FG isn't the worst outcome, but you gotta call plays like you want that TD. It seemed like the entire sequence it was just being called to setup a FG. If you put the ball in the endzone, making it 24-0 instead of 20-0, the game is effectively over and you probably see the Giants hitting the panic button on offense.

Also, a rare critcism of Jordan Reed coming, but does he just not have a high football IQ? He is an absolute beast of a pass catcher which is of course needed for this offense, but the little things he does wrong week in and week out. He is always good for 1-2 holding calls per game which are obvious rule-breaking offenses, and then I notice on a lot of pivotal conversion downs he is cutting his routes 1-2 yards short of the marker, and I know sometimes he can go into beast mode and run through the tackler, but why do that?

Anyways, I am extremely happy they won the game and went into 1st place, it's just that I was watching a game that should have been way out of reach before the NYG ever got their first score, and it ended up being way too close for comfort.

HTTR~!

Re: Skins gmen GameDay thread.

Two important things to point out:

1 - Skins are lone winners in the NFC east for the second time in three weeks. We hardly ever see this once a year; this season it's happened twice.

2 - If we can somehow manage to win the next two games, we will have overcome 4 major team hurdles: beating the Giants (done), winning back to back games, winning on prime time, and winning on the road. We have struggled with all 4 points for years now.

I am still very concerned about the amount of Calls going against us VS the other team calls.....way out of whack.....

NFL Penalties - 2015 League Penalty Stats - View by Total - NFL Penalty Stats Tracker - List/Statistics/Data of NFL Penalties - 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015

They are in the bottom when it comes to penalties called against the Skins and have less than the teams they've played against. Not that there is a great time to make a penalty but timing comes into play. Reeds holds were bad and one was a drive killer. Morgan Moses' however saved KCs butt from a nasty hit. I will take a ten yard penalty and a down replay over a sack and a loss of down.

Great find, Balt., ty.

Tampa sure pushed our ratio from negative to positive. And I thought they got hosed against us, but holy crap 16 penalties?

The SUPER annoying part was how loud it was when we were on offense. Like I've seen games where it's half visiting team, but they're never that loud.

Re: Skins gmen GameDay thread.

great team win. especially considering the giants were coming off their bye. really exciting game to watch. i hope the run game and run D success continue and it just wasnt bc we played the giants. we need to be a balanced team going forward otherwise its one step forward, one step back.

Re: Skins gmen GameDay thread.

I think Jordan Reed needs to work the refs a little more.

Replay is making alot of the calls look bad, not just against us.

Re: Skins gmen GameDay thread.

is there no post game 'good, bad and ugly" thread for the giants game? i guess ppl like complaining about negatives instead of talking positives.

The Cooley Film Breakdown: Offense vs New York | ESPN 980

^^ Cooley offense film breakdown of giants game. def worth a click and look. its really cool that there seems to be a lot more film breakdown emphasis this year.

I think Cooley likes Scherff
Quote:
  • Brandon Scherff is in the middle of violently crushing a defensive lineman on the front-end of a double team with Morgan Moses in the orange box.
  • Scherff (orange box) has knocked the defensive lineman over and is off to the linebacker.
  • Scherff has engulfed the linebacker.
  • Brandon Scherff (yellow box) again destroys his man, moving him across the field.
