Re: 2009 Free Agents

Got a good laugh when I read that Dan Orlovsky wants to test the free agent market to be a starter.

Any predictions on where Marvin Harrison will wind up? I say Chicago or Seattle.

I think he will will end up in Philly with another Syracuse Alum throwing to him.

Scary scenario, but it could easily happen. While the Eagles receiving core are not a bunch of household names, I think they have a lot of young, solid guys. DeSean Jackson, Jason Avant, Reggie Brown and I'm not sure if Hank Baskett is still there. Add Harrison to the mix, and that would worry me a little.

Well this scenario is already out there...

From ESPN Rumors (insider access)

Quote:
Harrison and McNabb to reunite?
Marvin Harrison | Colts | Interested: Eagles?
Updating a situation first reported this past Thursday, Adam Schefter of NFL.com has been told by a league source that Marvin Harrison has asked the Indianapolis Colts for his release. Furthermore, speculation has begun as to where Harrison will continue his career and Schefter thinks that the Philadelphia Eagles might be a good fit.

Harrison, who was born in Philadelphia and lives there currently, owns several businesses in the Philadelphia area. In addition, he was college teammates at Syracuse University with Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb, where the two formed a quite dynamic tandem before Harrison would form one of the greatest tandems in NFL history with Peyton Manning as a member of the Colts.

If the Colts release Harrison, they will save $7 million against the 2009 salary cap, and will look to Anthony Gonzalez to continue developing as the complement to Reggie Wayne.

Damn, I also heard that the Eagles could be looking to sign McNabb to an extension.

Well the word is that McNabb is waiting to see what the Iggles are going to do in free agency. So I can see Harrison going to Philly to make McNabb happy and get him to sign an extension. Maybe we'll get lucky and Harrison has the same luck that Jason Taylor had last season and doesn't contribute. (I know, I know, that's mean to say).

Re: 2009 Free Agents

Outside of acquiring Boldin or Houshmandzadeh, Philly can't actually do anything to improve on the two guys they actually have, not to mention how deep they are (save Greg Lewis).

I think McNabb really needs to shut up. I think if he keeps a low profile, people might actually not realize what is keeping the Philly Offense back.

For those of you keeping count, McNabb has now thrown: 1) his top tier defense, and 2) his above average receiving corps under the bus in order to try to explain away why they "can't win the big one" so to speak.

The truth is that Donovan McNabb is a good quarterback with a fantastic supporting cast. The Eagles are a perennially great team. It's unfortunate for those guys that they haven't won the super bowl yet, because they've certainly been good enough so many different times. But Donovan really needs to look in the mirror, because his play has declined so much over the last three years, and he's trying to blame it on everyone but himself.

Re: 2009 Free Agents

Harrison would be a pretty ideal fit here for one year, no? Especially if Moss is traded.

Angelo Crowell? Rumor has it we're interested in his services as an OLB. He'd be cheap.

Re: 2009 Free Agents

He looks like a good, inexpensive pickup, if he's over his knee injury. I like this rumor better than Haynesworth. Who else has been on the Redskins' radar? It's been relatively quiet, huh?

Canty and Crowell would be smart upgrades IMO.
