Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
The only AFC team that appears to be a big player for him seems to be the Jets. Not sure why the Broncos would worry too much about sending him there. I think it would be funny watching the New York media eat his lunch.

Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
I heard The Danny say in an interview that what he learned from Gibbs was patience. Does this dude have a problem with retaining football knowledge or what?

First, it throws us into turmoil and change AGAIN. We simply cannot make drastic course changes every two years. THere has to be some sense of direction, some confidence that the sacrifices of today are meant to strengthen the org in the long haul. SOmething that says we aren't just trying to win one more game next year...we're trying to build a lasting strong organization. Trading away assets for what really seems like only a marginal upgrade isn't that. Especially when we have clear and admnitted deficiencies that those assets could help address. Second, we are going to overpay. This deal is done. My opinion of course but let's be honest. When was the last time that a situation presented itself and Dan Snyder decided he wanted to do it and DIDN'T get it done? The fact that we have reached the point where it is common knowledge that we are trying to pull this means to me that DS has reached that point. He'll make it happen and it is gonna hurt us long run. It is. I like Cutler as a player. I think talent wise he is an upgrade. NOt a huge upgrade though. Leadership wise he seems to me to be clearly lacking. Denver has screwed the pooch on this but Cutler held the dog down as they did it. Straight up I can't argue with the move but this isn't going to happen straight up. |

Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
Yeah. Once Snyder starts working the deal, he's going to do something. He HAS to do something. He seems strangely unable to walk away from the table, which is an odd quality in a suppossedly great business mind.

Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
I think Danny-boy's level of enrapturment with Cutler is 1000 times the level of enrapturement he had with all of these players combined. The 'Skins will be the Vikings of this new Herschel Walker trade.

Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
I guess he looks at the Skins as a toy and since he has so much money to throw around, he does. He comes across as a spoiled little brat to me.

Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
When does it end? I mean, really? This franchise is rapidly becoming a joke. Patience and stability will never prevail with this owner and his FO. The weather is getting warmer here in the ATL and every time I venture into my closet to grab a ‘Skins shirt to wear outside I hesitate. I’m losing that lovin’ feeling and I fear it’s almost gone…gone…gone…whoa whoa wo. Ugh, I hope to awake later to discover this whole thing a very bad dream.

The question becomes: how much is it worth to go out and get a QB that is not Jason Campbell, but doesn't change the type of situation that we have at the QB position? It sounds like a stupid question, and to an extent, it is. Cutler brings a totally different dynamic to the offense, but at the end of the day, will likely not be much more successful than Campbell will. Problem is, the answer to the question appears to be a sizable amount. But only because the Redskins don't appear to be approaching this from an angle that makes any sense. They want to know how much it will cost them to get Cutler. The proper answer, speaking purely football, is "who cares?" We shouldn't even be discussing someone elses problem. But we're very serious about doing what it takes to get him here. So we get Cutler. Super Bowl? Hardly. Franchise QB? Yes, but, at what cost?

Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
We never got to the point where they Skins were confirming interest and huddling in SNyder's office for days. He liked Briggs but there wasn't anything to be done...plus Gibbs still had the reigns. The other three were only rumored and no deals were even speculated.

Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
Did anyone else see this from Glazer:
"Any team that trades for Cutler also may have to deal with demands from (Cutler agent Bus) Cook for a new contract. Cutler has three years remaining on a six-year rookie deal that could yield as much as $48 million." That doesn't sound realistic does it? He's still got three years and wants a new one after one pro bowl season in which his team flopped at the end? If anything THE TEAM should be wanting a new deal that's less expensive. This is all a big mistake.
