Re: Gameday Thread: Browns vs. Redskins

I think Griffin just needs more time. He wasn't being a reckless idiot against Cleveland... it was inexperience that led to the awkward slide and the other play where he got hit trying to get out of bounds. I think Jay holds getting down or out of bounds higher than the the Shannys did, so this will be second nature to RG in a few years, IMO. Jay's career here depends on Griffin staying healthy and improving in the pocket, so if RG ever does need a kick in the pants, he'll get it. But I don't think we'll ever reach that point.

That's how I see it.

One was an awkward slide...yes. Boggles my mind that a pro athlete of his caliber cannot slide but ok. The hit he took the other time - he had plenty of time to get down. He was trying to get out of bounds - yes - but with a first down. Gotta go down n live to fight another day there.

This might have been discussed but I just do not understand the hate towards RGIII by some of the media.
6 possessions into a new coaching regime and these talking heads are labeling him a bust!!??
Give the man a break! They drill him more than these players that beat their wife, pop pills and drive drunk!!!
Absurd!!

Yeah, I agree, he should have got down on that one. In the Super Bowl, you try to make that play. But in a relatively meaningless preseason game, he definitely should have got down instead of trying to pick up a few extra yards. And on that play where he did slide, he should have dumped the ball off to a wide open Reed instead of running at all. Just has to play smarter. I think he'll get there eventually.

Re: Gameday Thread: Browns vs. Redskins

portis already proved that wins in the preseason are meaningless, but the injuries are for real.

he should really just be chucking it out of bounds in the preseason. it's not important.

btw, props to DJ for running down that pick and making the tackle (how ironic to praise him, since that's what got CP sidelined).

Havent heard anyone call him a bust. Maybe i missed it. Have heard alot say this is a make it or break it season though. Which - if he stays healthy i would tend to agree with based on what we gave up to draft him.

Re: Gameday Thread: Browns vs. Redskins

Haven't heard anyone call him a bust either, unless you're listening to the knuckleheads on PFT or something.

But I do sense somewhat of a lack of patience out there. Hope people realize he's still a young guy growing into the position and it's going to take some time in a new system too.

I've already noticed some improvement in him going through reads but it's like some people want him to be Tom Brady overnight.

Re: Gameday Thread: Browns vs. Redskins

I dont know how you call him a bust considering at least 20 teams would trade their current QB for him right now.

We live in an age of click trolling, whether its PFT or bleacher report...its allllll about the ends folks.

Re: Gameday Thread: Browns vs. Redskins

I want RGIII to succeed, I absolutely think he will succeed, but the big fear is that if he doesn't, then this franchise will sink back into the quagmire of the 2000's. The fact that we haven't had long term stability at qb in like forever just sits out there.

Rookies Moses and Long move to the right side of Redskins' O-line | Comcast SportsNet Washington

Looks like Morgan is going to get some reps with the first stringers.

At this point I would be happy if you were getting reps on the right side!
