Glad you brought up the Ray Rice penalty comparison. It illustrates how suspect NFL "justice" is under Goodell.
Thanks but I'm hardly the only one. Here's some of the best one's I've found.

So Ray Rice knocks his wife out and gets ONLY a 2 game suspension . Brandon Merriweather tries to avoid a helmet hit and is suspended?
Washington, DC

Merriweather 2 games for violating safety rules. Rice two games for violating a chick's cranium. Ok

So Merriweather going helmet 2 helmet with a WR in the preseason is the same thing as Rice going hand to face with his wife? #TheMoreYouKnow

Glad Merriweather got the same punishment as Ray Rice for a hit in a violent game not physical abuse of a woman???? #ok
You can find more here.

I really like this one from PFT:

Two games?

Didn’t realize Merriweather delivered a forceful blow to the head and neck area of a woman.

Since we know the NFL is pretty much going hard on BM every time he lays the wood, at what point do we decide to upgrade or seek a reliable backup? If Thomas can't go week 1, who starts at safety for us?

Also, Ngata admitted to kicking Shawn Lauvao "in the heat of the moment" during the same game. This is an admission of a deliberate assault. So, why hasn't he been suspended? Oh, never mind.

This is absolutely insane getting a 2 game suspension for this bullsh*t. I cant understand how the league looks at the hit and others and cant see the improvement BM has made trying to avoid the tackle. How can he be responsible when the receiver happens to dip his head lower? just crap.

But to your question I would guess Trenton Robinson. Thomas is probably gonna get an injury settlement/waive.

I hope we look at cuts at SS and hope BM can appeal with a chance to reduce.

I wouldnt surprised if we might give Rambo a shot first at SS. I would be in total shock if we reach out to Doughty.

Sadly Meriweather is a marked man and will continue to get penalized for nothing, even after this crap.

What pisses me off the most is that I think, fine throw the flag in the field of play, but the office obviously looks at this shit. How can you look at that in a reply and think he was head hunting?

Re: Ravens v. Redskins Gameday Thread

Well, it is his 7th time? Not surprising the league is gone to suspensions again. The hit on Pierce was definitely the worse of the two in my book. The other one wasn't as bad to me. He led with the shoulder and did what a S should do. Maybe Flacco shouldn't get his WRs killed by throwing shitty passes to guys covered.

edit: Looking at it again, he did go high even though he led with the shoulder.

I dont think he went high i mean he tried to aim at the numbers. How low can he go?

Didn't say it was intentional, that the hit landed high. Hence we are, where we are today.

Swearinger Welker hit:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=OrLO8SAGB0A

IMO it's the same exact hit. Welker does the same thing as T Smith and gets smaller as he is about to be hit. Swearinger then lowers his should and leaves his feet hiring Welker in the head. And there is clearly no attempt to wrap up by Swearinger.

How Meriweather gets 2 games and Swearinger doesn't even get a fine is absurd.

I think this also goes back to a point made by NC Skins, and something that I've said and heard before. It's time that these QB's take some responsibility. They can see where the safety is playing and it's their job to lead their WR away from the hit. The pass from Manning to Welker and from Flacco to Smith, were both terrible passes in the middle that left their WR's exposed and open to get laid out.
