Re: Who will be the next coach of the Redskins and does it even freakin matter?

Just listened to Sheehan's podcast. Thom cited someone connected to Urban Meyer saying that he was interested in an NFL job... but not as a coach. If he joins the league, he'd want to do so in a front-office role.

Separately, Les Carpenter reported yesterday that Snyder had been consulting with Meyer on his coaching search... which is kind of what a Team President/GM would do.

Is it possible that Meyer may end up replacing Bruce, assuming that he has not already come to a verbal agreement with Snyder to assume the role after the season ends and Bruce "retires"?

USA Today article citing belief that BA is in “exile” currently.

He was on the field today congratulating Tress Way. That isn't much of an exile.

Who was hanging out with him? If Dan hasn't been hanging out with him in weeks it does speak to the situation changing.

Jax fired Coughlin, but DS can't fire BA?

Obviously BA + DS = BS

Coughlin was a disgrace as a GM and damaged his legacy. Good riddance

+1

The story behind Coughlin's success with the Giants was that he went from being a hardass to learning how to connect with his players, and that helped them win two titles.

Somewhere between then and Jacksonville he apparently became a hardass again. Stories like this are Bruce Allen levels of ineptitude:

Re: Who will be the next coach of the Redskins and does it even freakin matter?

I still think BA is gone after this season. The fact that Dan Snyder is consulting /snoozing with Alex Smith and Urban Meyer tells me he is ready to make a move and dump BA.

No top-notch OC, like Bieniemy (KC Chiefs OC) will come here to be the HC with BA around. No real, NFL-quality DC will come to work under the new HC with BA in any capacity. The Redskins have NO CHANCE to try to bring back Trent Williams if BA is there.

I think he will be gone in less than 3 weeks. Redskins fans will be so happy to see that jack azz leave this team.

I will believe BA is gone when it happens, but I won't be as happy as when VC was dismissed, because at that point I thought DS would change. 10 years later, just firing BA isn't enough to turn the Skins back to a great franchise, it only puts us in the Cleveland/Oakland cycle until DS shows he has changed.

Re: Who will be the next coach of the Redskins and does it even freakin matter?

Yup. If Dan Snyder fires Bruce and hires another sycophant- like Vinny Cerrato or BA then the firing means nothing.

However, right now he is using pretty good advisors - Alex Smith and Meyers. Or at least better than anything BA could come up with. That gives me hope. Smith may be pushing Snyder to go to Bieniemy, the KC Chiefs OC. Haskins and McLaurin are pushing for the Ohio State HC.

Snyder can’t get guys like Bieniemy unless he hires the right GM to replace BA and makes some fundamental changes to team management. Also if he gets guys like Alex Smith or Urban Meyer TO VOUCH FOR THESE CHANGES.

I’m still cautiously optimistic.

The fact that Coughlin got fired and Allen is still employed is laughable at this point.
