Re: WFT v Steelers game thread
I believe they were 78-1-1, isn't it 78-2-1 now?

Re: WFT v Steelers game thread
And you still can't spell his name.
I was confident going into this game, but willing with no production from McLaurin OR Gibson is impressive. 6-play goal line stand was the play of the game! Alex, 3 wins in a row...I predicted he'd come in over Trashkins and take us to the playoffs! Give him another year and some actual playmakers around him, we'll be good. I work with basically all Steelers fans, one Ravens fan who's happy and disappointed at the same time. Today will be a fun day at the office.

Re: WFT v Steelers game thread
Not quite because that was a crazy ending against DALLAS, but one of the great wins.

Re: WFT v Steelers game thread
What a win. The first half looked like a typical Redskins game on Monday. Shoot ourselves in the foot play after play. At one point I just thought this was going to be a blowout. Then we got that lucky 3 points at the end of the first half.
Since the Joe Gibbs days, this team couldn’t win on Monday, nor could they make any halftime adjustments. Jay Gruden was the worst second half HC I’ve ever seen. The Redskins would get a slim lead in the first half and just try to hang on by their fingernails. Whatever Gruden did at halftime - a successful HC should do the OPPOSITE. Since Joe Theissman was hurt on a Monday night, we’ve sucked at these games. The infamous “BODY BAG” game was on Monday night. I just read we LOST something like 16 out of 18 Monday night games - that a winning percentage of just .110. I remember staying up very, very in Afghanistan in late 2006 to see the Deadskins lose (aI think to Dallas). The game was on the military network like at 2:00 am and I had to get up at 6:00am. So I sacrificed a much needed sleep at Bagram Ai Base to watch out team suck on Monday night. I watched them do it again in 2006, again losing on a Monday game - this time in Iraq. Same thing, I lost a night’s sleep to watch our team LOSE. Those days are over!! This team is changing for the better. This team has CHARACTER and that why they won this game. The Steelers double-teamed McLaurin AND Chase Young. Gibson was hurt very early on. Yet players, many cast offs from UDFA or other teams, fought hard to stay in this game. There are still holes on this team, but overall the Rivera era is here!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: WFT v Steelers game thread
I will say that this was an all around impressive win. Great contributions from some guys that have probably shown more potential than anything else -- and now they're actualizing it, which is what good coaching and schemes will let players do. Props to Alex Smith who was slinging it too -- some nice shots down the field (and some great grabs by Sims and Thomas in particular).
I think the Giants are also playing inspired ball these days, and so I think we'll need to basically win 3 of our 4 remaining games. SF and Seattle will be tough, but this weekend has shown that they're winnable. (And for as much as Shanahan, Reed, and TW might want to beat us, I'll bet Alex Smith has this one circled on his calendar too. Just like Bostic must have been thrilled to seal a win v. his old team yesterday.) And it's hard to imagine that Rivera doesn't want to stick it to Carolina. Lots of revenge potential in the next few weeks. But all that aside, they have to take it one week at a time. They need to focus on what they're capable of and not worry about anyone else -- if this team plays with focus (and some swagger) like they did yesterday, they can beat anyone. It's a mark of a drastically improved team where the key to winning any given week is what you do and not what another team does to you.

Re: WFT v Steelers game thread
Over here the game started late so I was tempted to watch to HT or shortly after and pick it up again today before or even after work. No chance. I was glued to the screen until 1:30 AM and screw work! Panicked for a mo when Sky TV automatically switched to the Bills v 49ers with 5 mins. to go (they actually had the WFT game on another channel already and that was uninterrupted). I was lying in bed until about 2AM because I couldn't calm down! Don't think I've felt like that after a game since SB 26!
I really want us to win the division now, and even if we don't this season is a winner for me. I said it elsewhere that weeks 1-6 are effectively preseason for teams like us. We're 4-2 since then and seem to be getting better every week. Really want to see us steamroller the Eagles in the last game. |
