Re: Dwayne Haskins
As long as the O-line is playing well and protecting him so he doesn't become road kill.

There is a huge responsibility on the QB to work with the online to protect himself. Colt Brennan on 980 a few years ago said the responsibility was 50% oline and 50% QB. The o line doesn't play well in a vacuum, the QB greatly influences the play of the o line. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Re: Dwayne Haskins
You learn by doing. A previous poster talked about the case of Jason Campbell. He sat on the bench for 1.5 seasons before they played him in his first game. He still ended up being an average QB who only lasted for a few years with us. Sitting him for so long did nothing except delay the team from finding out he wasn't the franchise QB.
People keep bringing up RG3 as the reason for sitting Haskins down. RG3 was a running QB who couldn't read a defense, nor ever get through his progressions. Once he was hurt he couldn't become a pocket QB because of those two reasons. The Eagles, who probably will win the NFC East this year, played Wentz from game 1 in his rookie season. They took their "rookie" lumps that first year and he was ready to move up the next season and did so. Let Haskins start from Game 1. I'd rather watch Haskins learn as a rookie, make some mistakes and win 6 games than see why Case Keenum is a journeyman QB in the NFL and win 7-8 games. Give Haskins the experience he needs right from the get-go. He'll be a better QB in the long-run for building that experience level.

Re: Dwayne Haskins
I just hope that we keep 3 QB's this season. There's no way we can go w/ 2. I have a feeling that all 3 guys will end up playing.

Re: Dwayne Haskins
After last season I doubt Gruden wants to get into a QB situation where he has to hire a QB off the street who hasn't even played in the NFL in a few years. No doubt we will have 3 QB on the team and Alex Smith talking in Haskin's ear getting him ready to play.

Re: Dwayne Haskins
This is where I really disagree w/ Gruden. Yes it will impact another position but so what. The most important position is QB. If a starter goes down then you have the backup and then you have to get a guy off the street. How'd that work out last year Jay? You had Mark Sanchez start a game and the offense looked like pee wee league shit. You couldn't run basic plays. Inexcusable on the NFL level. Josh Johnson won a game but then he showed who he really is.

Re: Dwayne Haskins
I just don't believe everything Jay says to the press. If the team does as he has said, then that means Colt McCoy will be on the streets after the pre-season, unless Case totally blows it in the pre-season.

Re: Dwayne Haskins
What a genius, it is pretty obvious why he averages 7 wins a year. With the Redskin's recent history of QB injuries he should have 3.

If its me I go with Keenum and Haskins. Keenum doesnt have an injury history like Colt, and has backup talent at least. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk |

Re: Dwayne Haskins
Just look at his history, he doesn't like to carry 3 QB's. As far as coaches in this league goes Jay is pretty straight forward and honest most of the time. And when he does go coach speak it's usually not hard to read between the lines with him.
