Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
He will demand top dollar...I don't want 2 safeties to be wrapped up in the two highest players on defense. We already overpaid a minimum-impact play at SS.

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
This is from BurgundyBlog, and I agree with everything except for the notion that TW is in his prime years.
"I'd probably move Trent for a 2 and bury this. But I'd aim higher. He's very good and still in prime years for the position. #Redskins don't owe him any goodwill, aren't in a hurry, and his punitive new contract is not their problem. Demand a luxury price for your luxury asset." |

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
Trent to the Browns for Denzel Ward. Maybe swap some later round picks to even things out.
Solves our Trent problem and gives us a good, cheap, young CB. Allows us to spend big in FA on Hooper, extending Scherff, resigning Flowers, and perhaps signing a guy like Peters or Penn to start at LT for a year or two while we develop some younger guys.

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
CLEVELAND, Ohio — It’s no longer Scho-Time in Cleveland.
Browns GM Andrew Berry met with linebacker Joe Schobert’s agent, Joe Panos, in Indianapolis, and the two sides parted with the belief that Schobert will not be back with the Browns because they’re not prepared to pay him the double-digit millions he stands to make on the open market, a league source said. Schobert, a 2017 Pro Bowler, could attract about $10 million a year, and the Browns aren’t prepared to pay him that much, the source said. They’re planning to make a big investment in the offensive line, sources say, and they’re saving their pennies for that. It’s also the reason that defensive end Olivier Vernon, the highest-paid player on the team at $15.25 million, will also likely be gone. https://www.cleveland.com/browns/202...urce-says.html Couple of nuggets. LB Schobert will be on the market and apparantely Olivier Vernon. Im a no for both. Come on browns .... do it. Make that O line move. Your window is now. Baker, OBJ, Landry, Garrett, Ward ... lets go.

The best return in terms of draft picks maybe for some in next years draft, GMs are a little more relaxed about trading future picks it seems......

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
Mary Kay Cabot is a well connected reporter in Cleveland. So if she's saying that the Browns may need to part ways with their #10 overall pick for Trent, that's something to pay attention IMO.

If we get their 10th pick I'll jump out of an airplane

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
Hopefully the Browns new GM Andrew Berry, only 32 years old, is viewing this as he has 2 years to make the Browns a SB winner and will make bold moves to maximize that window.
Browns do have a 2 year window before their core will need to be resigned/shipped out. garrett, baker, ward, chubb, greedy, bitonio. They have 61M in cap and releasing Vernon gets them 15.5M in cap savings with no dead money, lb Kirksey gets them another 6.7 or so. They will have over 80M in cap space. so enticing .. not sure if this is fan dreams or actually realistic

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
Or what about TW and our 3rd for their 1st? We can then parlay that #10 pick into multiple lower/future picks?

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
I just don't see any possible way they give up #10 for Trent who is 32 and hasn't played in 2 years now. We can all have wishful thinking but lets be real here.. That ain't happening lol

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
I can't see that happening unless a semi insane bidding war breaks out..... they must know that the #10 in round 2 would get it done, so why would they part ways with the first rounder...... if they did they should all be fired on the spot

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
I would call the Cardinals and ask for a Trent / Patrick Peterson swap. Fixes our CB need and gives them a LT they need.. Its a win/win
The Browns don't have anything we really need (other than the picks) Texans have no players or picks
