Am I the only one on the Cutler bandwagon?

So, uh, as I suspected like two weeks ago, Cutler was bluffing on the anger part. He fully expected to play for Denver next year.

So now, he's getting screwed over by the Broncos. Isn't this just the player we want?
He was SHOCKED that the Broncos gave up on a reconciliation? This cats so full of it, it's not funny.

But the allure, the reason to go get Cutler, to pay the premium it costs to get him...that's stuff we already have in Campbell. Going to get Cutler is the very definition of spinning our wheels in place.

The question becomes: how much is it worth to go out and get a QB that is not Jason Campbell, but doesn't change the type of situation that we have at the QB position? It sounds like a stupid question, and to an extent, it is. Cutler brings a totally different dynamic to the offense, but at the end of the day, will likely not be much more successful than Campbell will.

Problem is, the answer to the question appears to be a sizable amount. But only because the Redskins don't appear to be approaching this from an angle that makes any sense. They want to know how much it will cost them to get Cutler. The proper answer, speaking purely football, is "who cares?" We shouldn't even be discussing someone elses problem. But we're very serious about doing what it takes to get him here.

So we get Cutler. Super Bowl? Hardly. Franchise QB? Yes, but, at what cost?
Great post.

How much does the Skins organization have to give away to give Danny "warm fuzzys"

Campbell is just as likely to get us to the playoffs the next 3 years as Cutler....especially if we have a new Stud Olineman from the draft..
This whole trade for Cutler idea is idiotic.
Campbell has outstanding character...which is why we gave Denver a draft pick to get him in the first round.

Danny is an idiot...unless he gets him straight up...which aint gunna happen

After all this, Campbell's done regardless. no? I mean you can't pull back from this. They've basically told the whole world they have no faith in the guy.

What has Campbell done but miss reads, stare down his primary target, and hessitate to go deep. He just doesn't have that "IT" about him, I don't think he's smart enough to be a great QB. He plays scared and doesn't take many chances which explains his lack of INTs.

Re: Broncos to trade Cutler

I'm torn about this Cutler thing. On one hand, he has the potential to be a once in a decade type of QB-talent wise. He's got the cannon, he's accurate, he's not afraid to take shots, he's got good mechanics, good footwork-all the goods. He could be a prick or maybe he's just a cocky 25 year old kid and will mature.

On the other hand, Campbell is the type of guy you want in the locker-room, a quiet leader who has been jerked around a little in his career by multiple coaches, multiple systems and in spite of it all has shown the ability to be a 10 year starter in the NFL.

But that's where the difference is. Campbell can be a 10 year starter, Cutler can be a 10 year star. Sure it would suck to give up this year's #1 pick and a pick next year but we've basically started cheating on Campbell out in the open now. Either way we're going to be QB shopping soon. Now that we are in it, we've got to make the deal because without it, we're going to set the franchise back another 5 years while we still seek that franchise QB.

The stability upside if we get Cutler is first, we're set at the most important position on the field for years to come. Second, if he's successful in '09 then Zorn will be here for a while, if not then you know Snyder will break the bank (again) for Shanahan and we're going to have him as coach for at least 5 years.

Dont you think a weak Oline and WR corps has anything to do with that?
What would change by swapping Cutler who is used to playing against the weakest (vs toughest) competition in the league.

Not to mention, we'd likely lose either starters or future starters that we need (high draft picks)

Campbell is the best qb we have had in years...to throw away that now is absurd.

Lets say we get Cutler...who will block for him long term?
Who will catch passes if both rookie WR's dont pan out?
At least with Campbell, we can shore up positions that need significant help to assist the offense in general...this is a team sport, it takes 11 to gain yardage and score, not 1..

Think of it this way...what is better....Cutler with the current aging line or Campbell plus a stud young OT...not to mention he knows the WR's and the system...I vote for Campbell

Let's just say, we can't justify whether our potential trade is worth it for a few years...

#1 I'm not a big fan of the trade, I just had to laugh when I saw "After all Campbell has done"

#2 Brunnell was better than Campbell
