Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
That's a difficult proposition because who knows the value. When do you make this trade? Hardly anyone makes that just because. Honestly, if you think about it, the value of those picks is potentially a wash.

Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
hell, it would add fire to a rivalry. if we traded all 2013 picks round for round to the cowboys. not in this day and age, players don't care as much as they used to. sorry that this was off topic
legally betting on yourself

Two Colts Dr.'s have now cleared Manning. If he becomes a FA I say we get him and build through the draft around him. No trading up.

That organization has seemingly decided to move on, it only forwards their momentum by saying Peyton is cleared to play thus opening the door for him to leave. But, hypothetically speaking if he is in fact cleared to play: o call Tom Moore ask him if he wants to be 'passing game coordinator' contingent upon signing Peyton o tell Kyle that he and Moore need to work on how best to install Moore/Peyton's system o call Jeff Saturday, Reggie Wayne, Anthony Gonzalez o Mike Shanahan/Synder go to meet Peyton in person o draft a RT and a OG that can start |

Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
I agree our doc's will have to clear him. If we can get manning we don't have to mortgage the future. We can possibly move down. Here a little fuel from my main man Kyle...
Today Kyle Shanahan threw a little bit of gasoline on the “Peyton Manning to the Redskins” fire that has been burning for the last few weeks. Appearing on ESPN 980, the Redskins’ offensive coordinator said Manning’s age would not be a concern if he does attempt to come back from a neck injury that sidelined him for all of the 2010 season. "I know he's up there in age, but if he's healthy, age is not an issue," said Shanahan. "That guy takes care of his body.” Manning will turn 36 in March. The Colts will need to decide if they are going to pay him a $28 million option bonus in early March or release him. The neck injury, which has required three surgical procedures in 19 months, is, of course, of concern to Shanahan. But if Manning gets a clean bill of health on that, Kyle thinks he’ll be fine. "If he can recover," Shanahan continued, "and the doctors say he's healthy, and he says he's healthy, then that's enough for me."

Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
Am I the only one that thinks that Peyton (the greatest QB of all time IMO), doesn't fit a shanahan system offense? I mean c'mon he is probably the slowest, or close to it, QB in the league. Imagine him doing a play action bootleg. You have to be athletic. He does that and bang he's hit before he even looks at a WR and his neck is probably gonners.
I think we're peytons 3,4th option if he gets cut and I think he's our 3,4th option if we don't get the other QB's we want. I also find it a little odd that yesterday he did an interview with Trey Wingo and he didn't flat out say "I'm feeling 100%, no doubt about it, I have feelings all throughout my arms and legs." He said "I'm feeling better but I still have a little ways to go" Now all of a sudden he's been cleared!?!? Doesn't make sense to me...

However, try to imagine Peyton Manning in the Skins' training camp as Kyle Shanahan suggests that he change his footwork or his release point. Put thought clouds over Peyton Manning in that scenario and imagine what might go through his mind at that instant.

Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
peyton still has no velocity on his throws, so, no idea if that'll be coming back soon (or ever) and his re-injury risk is pretty high. If we structure the contract to protect us and draft someone anyways, it'd be fine.
This isn't drew brees as an FA (who we didn't even try for), this is a real risk. |

Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
How lame would this franchise appear to be implanting Peyton Mannning, Jeff Saturday and Pierre Garcon? Then again, how low can they go?

Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
I did not want to start a new thread for this but thought it might have escaped some peoples notice. Todd McShay released his second Mock draft yesterday and he had the following picks:
1) Luck - Indy 2)Kalil - StL 3)Reiff - Min 4)RGIII - Cleve 5)Claiborne - TB This would leave Blackmon on the board when we pick. Now if we could stay at 6 and get Blackmon (unlikely in my mind as I don't see Reiff being a #3 pick) then I would prefer that to trading multiple high round picks and players (like Orakpo) to move up 5 spots to grab RGIII. This is just my opinion but even though he is wildly talented, I don't see RGIII as a sure thing due to size, his durability, the fact that he played behind a really amazing Oline in college and the fact that he has really only played at a very high level for one year. If we could get Peyton in FA and draft Blackmon in the first a CB or Oline in the 2nd and Weedon (or someone to develop behind Peyton)in the 3rd or 4th then I would say we come out of this draft a FAR better team then we would if we made a trade involving picks and Orakpo and came away with RGIII or Bradford. |
