Re: Isaac Bruce Released

I think my stock response for any good player in a need position on the market should be "Sure I'll take him for the right price." Stupid CBA is preoccupying me.

Re: Isaac Bruce Released

Bruce may have a lot of f'ball left. Someone said he doesn't go over the middle well - I beg to differ, as I recall he runs the slant as well as anyone & is pretty tough. Great hands & I think blocks fairly well too.
No doubt about it, he's a Gibb's type guy, would be a great fit for us if a team like the vikings doesn't snatch him up at a high price. They've got the $ to pay him.

Re: Isaac Bruce Released

When I saw Bruce's name come across the ESPN wire I was definitely intrigued, but he does have the age and injury factors working against him.

"While the Rams had only a brief discussion Monday with Bruce's agent, Jimmy Sexton, four teams had called expressing interest in Bruce by late afternoon. Sexton declined to name those teams, but the Post-Dispatch confirmed the identity of three of the clubs: Detroit, Houston and Washington."

Re: Isaac Bruce Released

I think that Ike Bruce would be a great addition to this club. You put him as the #2 receiver and forget about it for the next 2 or 3 years. He was a great receiver. He still can be very good. We could draft a WR in the later rounds have Bruce, Patten and Moss ahead of him and bring him along until that guy is ready to slide at #2 ahead of Patten or at #3 behind him when Ike decides he's done. I think adding Isaac Bruce immediately makes this team better.

He is old, but we don't need a long term solution at the #2 spot right now. I don't think there's anyone in the draft who is going to come right into camp and jump ahead of Patten on the Skins depth chart. Isaac Bruce could be the short term solution to that problem. Plus, he's one the best receivers in Rams history.

It depends on what the Skins are looking for. If we need a "long term solution" I think that Givens or Randle El would be the way to go. However, I think that Bruce is pretty much a can't miss guy. He's would come in, be the #2, and catch pretty much everything that comes his way. He has great hands and he runs great routes. Everyone else is rough around the edges. I think that if we get Bruce he'll only be here for 2 or 3 years, but I think it would be a very good stretch for him. I've always liked Ike Bruce. I would love to see him with the Skins.

Re: Isaac Bruce Released

the WR market is terrible in FA and the draft, i think he's the best short term answer while waiting for someone else to free up or develop

Re: Isaac Bruce Released

I think Bruce still has a couple years left in the tank. I wouldn't mind seeing him in burgundy and gold.

But aren't we looking for a possesion receiver with size?

Re: Isaac Bruce Released

Well, Eric Moulds will probably be out there, but I think that Isaac Bruce could even fit into that category. He doesn't necessarily have great size, but he can get open and he has great hands. That could make him a go to guy on 3rd downs. Also, Isaac Bruce would be a threat so teams couldn't just roll coverage to Santana's side. He can be a game breaker and if we had Patten at 3 behind those two...wow. I think that the passing game could explode if Bruce brought anything close to what he was before he got hurt with the Rams.

Good point. As long as he's 100 % healthy, he can be productive.

Re: Isaac Bruce Released

I don't think Bruce would mind finishing his carreer as a redskin. Barring injury he's a sold #2.

Statistics aren't everything, but there certainly something. Look at a little statistical comparison.

Randel El = 503 yds/year in 4 years
Isaac Bruce= 1023 yds/year in 12 years (968yds/year in past 4 years)
Eric Moulds= 909/yds/year in 10 years (982yds/year in past 4 years)

Interpret as you wish.

Re: Isaac Bruce Released

issac would be great for our team the trio of isaac, moss and patten would be awsome. but isaac doesnt have the quarterback with an arm like he did in st louis every yr he played he get really bored really fast with the shitty QB We have. i have our qbs. i hope we keep and get rid of old fart brunell but thats another story

check the % of yds/year for WRs compared to their team recieving yds/year. randel El was watching the bus run while warner and bulger throw all day long. i don't want moulds he's been trouble in buffalo running his mouth too much i like radel el's versatility. He's got a trick option pass like we did with brian mitchell and have done w/ portis.

just think direct snap to randel el throws across the field to portis who finds cooley in the endzone. we dont even need brunell.
