I had a friend in college named Black Tony who used to say, honestly man, there aint really nothing I wont hit. And the thing was, those werent empty words. He walked the walk. He ran through every insecure, half-baked, overweight, cross-eyed girl in the dorm. Anyway, he was a good guy and a huge influence on my thinking. I kind of got the feeling that old Billy Clinton was the same way.

I'm not sure that people in general are in favor of a straight up cut and run, but some sort of exit strategy would be a good start.

exit strategy and contingency planning are two of the MOST important parts of conducting a war. we went in without either and rummy couldn't believe that the US would be greeted as anything other than liberators (oops). arabic ground intel was nearly non existant, and training and directives as to how and why winning popular native support is important weren't implemented.

plan as you go doesn't work so well, since about 2 million new opinions pop up every day :/.

he should have stepped down 6 years ago, but now is better than later.
