Re: Sports Talk 980 and the Redskins
980 talk trash becasue they know it is the only way anyone will listen to them as they don't have the access triple X hs to the players and coaches ... kind of like a washington post attitude .
If the Redskins were 11-0 right now they would still be reporting Clark only wanted 1.5 million bonus and all the bad things on the team or they would say nothing.... Brian Mitchell is more of a Sally Jenkins of the broadcasting world |

Re: Sports Talk 980 and the Redskins
They are always negative not because they are great truth seekers, but because that's what the general public thrives on. Great evaluators (as has been pointed out already) give you both sides with no bias.
I think Walker over the years has been very honest (until recently when he bought into the station vs. team garbage) if not overly macho at times. Mitchell is 95% negative and a know-it-all. He seems bitter, but gives some good insights, if you can get through all the stupid ones first. Czaban is an opportunist, he seems to try whatever he thinks will advance his career. He is pretty good 80% of the time. I heard him Wednesday morning getting personal in his negativity though. He will stretch the truth when it suits him. I like team coverage that will get negative when it is warranted, but don't give one sentence of positive and then 2 hours of negative. And don't pretend like you have all the answers and the team are morons. Report the facts, comment on the facts, don't exaggerate, and don't get personal.

Re: Sports Talk 980 and the Redskins
they're negative because the skins are a losing team with some serious issues. if they were 11-0, they'd spend all day talking about how badly they'd beat the next team.
if the skins were lucky to not lose any of 4 fumbles, got a junk call, and a subpar game by delhomme, then how is stating that being negative (as oppoed to being objective)? |

Re: Sports Talk 980 and the Redskins
At 4-7 and yet another wave of idiotic moves by the front office, exactly what positive stories should be covered by 980?
A lot of you fall under the category that Wilbon discusses frequently. You do not understand how other franchises operate (more importantly successful franchises). This team is the highest paid and is oozing with talent, yet they consistently make poor decision after poor decision and lose to poor teams. Put down the Kool-aid for once. |

The whole Ryan Clark thing is an embarrassment. Sadly enough, this has been happening for quite a few years now! Why do you think this will all of the sudden change next year??? Things are only going to get worst! Contrary to popular belief, THERE IS A SALARY CAP! Pointing out the good things with this team is like telling a 5 year old kid he is great just for finishing the race, don't mind he finished 10th of 10! Great job kid! |

We're simply talking about those that are overly negative.

The o-line and d-line are average. Special teams is solid. Thats one think thats been over looked. Our special teams have been great besides all the missed field goals. |

Re: Sports Talk 980 and the Redskins
There are problems all around the league-why do the Lions and Cardinals continuously underperform (to put it lightly), why won't the Packers spend more of their money, why can't the Falcons find any receivers, why are the Giants and Raiders more likely to beat each other up than an opponent, and so on-yet a lot of us only choose to look at the flaws of the Redskins. Which is fine I suppose, but I think it's also important to keep in mind that it's not as if every other team is cruising right along and we're left at the starting line
