The problem with MB is, his arm is done. Other than the miracle against Dallas, he can't throw a pass with any velocity over 15-20 yards and his accuracy is nowhere near what it was 4-5 years ago. If there is no threat to stretch the field, the defense has a huge advantage and the offense is extremely limited. You can't survive on screens and 5-yard check-downs for very long. That being said, IMO unless we get a sweet deal from Atlanta we need to hang onto MB through this season. There are no better back-up QBs on the market (Culpepper has his own accuracy issues along with health). I believe these AJC comments are complete trash. Culpepper is the most likely target by ATL because they don't have to give up anything to get him. They aren't going to pursue MB knowing they will have to give up picks.

Second, (I just thought of this point) Gibbs is too loyal to let MB go anywhere unless ATL puts up a monster deal. But....unfortunatley IMO the Jags game was the exception, not the rule since Nov 2005. Stats aren't everything, but I believe confirm what I'm saying. Since Nov 2005 MB has passed for over 200 yards in 5 out of 18 games, and for over 250 in only 2 of 18. He has thrown for more than 1 touchdown in 5 out of those same 18 games, but 0 touchdowns in 7 of 18. His QB rating in 2006 was over 77 in only 4 out of 9 games. I sat in the end-zone against the Chargers in 2005 and had a great view from as close to the QB perspective as you can get sitting in the stands. I watched on at least three separate plays where Moss had the SD corners torched on beautiful Post-Corner routes downfield, MB was looking right at him each time, but the ball needed to be thrown with velocity at about 35+ yards to the outside and he didn't make the throws because IMO he knew he couldn't get the ball there.

Re: What!!!? Brunell to the Falcons?
If its a choice in Atl between MB or DC than its a no brainer, they should go after MB. He is a solid back up and can still play a bit. DC is washed up. I doubt Gibbs will let MB go but anything is possible.
I also think that Harrington will be fine in Atl. His career is judged by what he did in Det and lets face it, who has ever been successful in Det. |

Re: What!!!? Brunell to the Falcons?
I wish I could take credit for "remembering" but in responding to Hess I was digging for some stats...the last 300+ yard passing game was the Jags on 10/01/2006. 329 yards. Prior to that it was Den & KC in Oct of 2005. 322 & 331 yds.

And of course, Denver and KC were both losses. Which goes to that passing yards doesn't always equal wins. We'd be wise to remember that this year when Campbell has some under 200 yards passing games while Betts and Portis churn out the yardage on the ground and lead us to wins
