How is Vick "overly prosecuted"?

Well in this situation I'd say: Played football. Was convicted and did time. Came back to football.

Exactly. Unless you're talking an extended period of time, I don't think any modern day professional football player has left prison and come right back into the league.

But to the question of whether or not he's overly prosectuted, is not really a yes or no question to be honest. It wasn't an average guy, committing an average crime. I really don't have the energy, at least tonight, to break this topic open, but there are several moving pieces here. That's why this story won't die anytime soon.

Vick, Vick, Vick, and Rave is right. Us black people really need to stop saying everything is racist. He could have been caught commiting murder on camera and someone would say that he is a victim of racial profiling.

Well yeah. While everything and everyone isn't racist, the history of our country, the very recent history of our country, has it's roots in racism. And you can't just get around that reality, not even in 2007. Do people exploit that to their advantage, of course. But the cold reality is, the majority of the time a black person is implicated for wrong doing, rightfully or wrongfully, the issue of race and color will insert itself in that conversation 99 percent of the time.

I know but I feel it is time that we all move past that. If a german caucasin and a russian caucasin get convicted of a crime we dont hear racial profiling. you gotta make up your mind. Am I saying that racial profiling doesnt exist: No because it does but we have to stop making everything a racial situation. If Brett Favre got convicted of this. Would it be as big as Vick. No everyone needs to calm down and realize it for what it is: A black guy messed up and must pay for it. End of story.

No one here is absolving Micheal Vick from the crimes he committed; I'm certainly not. And I personally don't think people in the court of law or public opinion are making this out to be a racial case.

As for racial profiling...now some may disagree here, but that is simply code word for "profiling blacks". It really has nothing, if anything, to do with caucasions or Russians or Germans or whomever. Since 9/11, however, I'll throw our Arab and Muslim brothers in the group of those who now get profiled, so to speak. But we're talking about two different things now.
