Re: Smooooot Nooooooo

85% chance Smoot gets hurt this year and misses multiple games. He cannot tackle the way Springs and Rogers do. ANd he has hands as bad as Rogers@!

Rogers and Smoot both need to step up. No question
I can agree with that.

Rogers doesn't "suck ass". He didn't have a great game, but the interference call was BS. Other than that, Green only threw at him a few times today.

Smoot on the other hand, got nickel and dimed all friggin day, and dropped a likely game winning pick.

He looked awful. I want the Washington Fred Smoot not the Minnesota Fred Smoot.

Rogers came up and made some nice tackles, which is the strength of his game. He's just still a below average cover guy.

He deserves credit for taking care of his man most of the time, but in the NFL we really need more of that from him. He's still getting beat far too much for comfort.

I practically crapped myself on the INT drop. Other than that, corners are going to give up some plays, it's the nature of the position. All in all our CB's seemed to be in bend don't break mode. I must say that I am shocked at SS not starting. What's the dilly yo?

That's why I think Springs and Smoot should start. Let Rogers play nickel.

I'm still not sure what people are expecting from Rogers. He's not Champ Bailey, but no one is. It's completely irrational to expect any corner in the league to give up zero pass completions.

And what exactly did Fred Smoot do today to outplay Rogers? Half of the Dolphins offense resulted from pass completions to Fred Smoots side.

Well, Rogers and Springs are still the best corners on this roster. It'd be nice to see Carlos get a lot more aggressive so we can finally see what we have in him. This 80 yard cushion stuff isn't going to cut it next year when Springs isn't around.

And if this is a schematic thing, boy those LBs better start hauling ass into that curl zone if we want to win this year.

And do we even have Fisher?
i totally agree. smoot is a good 3rd corner. a good team player, and a good tackler. not a bad part of a defense as a 3rd corner. period. a 3rd corner

Fred Smoot lead our team with int's just about every year when he was playing beside Champ so its not like him to drop those kinds of passes.

You're not sure what people are expecting from Rogers? People are expecting him to play like a first round draft choice that has the experience now to be better than mediocre. He picked up right where he left off last year...burnt toast.

As for Smoot, you're right, unfortunately he did not outplay Rogers. I just think he's shown more in his career to start over Rogers at this point.

The Smoot vs. Rogers debate makes sense to me. Smoot has a little more experience, Rogers has youth and athletic ability, that whole position battle makes sense to me as a close one.

Smoot vs. Springs is the mind-blowing battle. How the HELL did Smoot start over Springs? How was this not addressed in any press conferences? I saw it mentioned in a Washington Post article but that was it.

Starting Smoot over Springs if Springs isn't injured makes as much sense as starting Prielou over Taylor, or grabbing some practice squad dude and having him take over for Fletcher. The whole thing is incomprehensible to me.

Re: Smooooot Nooooooo

smoot is a mouthy bum. nobody would even know who he was if he didn't run his jaws, a la deion sanders, or for his hooker boat. At least deion was good at one point (although not for us). I was saddened when he came back to town. bring back champ or d.green for that matter; shut down corners with class!
