Per Al Koken on Sportstalk 980,

One of his "sources" say that they have been organizing the conference room at Redskins Park to get it ready for a press conference. Whether that will happen today or tomorrow, he doesn't know. But it does seem like they're getting prepared to have a press conference very soon.

Ok Schefter is on 980 now.

First things first, he said he thinks Monk gets in the HOF this year! Thats great, great news.

Snyder had breakfast with Mora Jr again this morning. He said that he actually slept over last night suppsosedly. Schefter said that even though GW is the front-runner, don't be surprised if Snyder hires Mora Jr, or Meeks for that matter.

I really don't want Mora Jr! Damn it!

The sleeping over thing doesn't really bother me...he did fly across the country...who knows, maybe weather kept him from flying back, and at this point I won't be surprised if he hires the Hamburgler to be the next coach...but I don't think anyone can deny that GW has earned it, and that hiring anyone else will cause a major backlash.

Agreed. I just don't think Mora is a good fit.

The Hamburgler over The King? At least The King has NFL experience from all of the commercials.

At home tonight to watch the Caps vs. Oilers game in DC on Comcast. Between periods they spoke about Redskin brass interviewing Meeks today and that would more than likely wrap up coaching interviews as they met the Rooney Rule requirement.

Then, the broadcaster stated that "privately Greg Williams has the endorsement of Joe Gibbs to be his replacement" (This is the first time I have heard this). Curious if Joe has been directly involved with the interview process for his replacement with the candidates? Being he is still at Redskin park until the job is filled and part of the team with the special adviser role.

I don't have time to look if this has been mentioned already, but I heard on WFAN in NY that the Redskins might have a secret "big splash" candidate...Dick Vermiel. Although a great coach, not much of a future there with a 71 year old.

not a chance...he's WAY too old to be going through an entire season

More on Mora Jr.....

From JLC's blog: Redskins Insider

Quote:
One thing to watch in all of this is the role of Vinny Cerrato as well. Vinny is pretty tight with Mora - they worked together in San Fran - while there is not a close bond between Williams and Cerrato in any way. So they'll mull this thing over for a few days, and we'll see what they really think of the current coaching staff and roster by their actions when they name a new guy.
The fact that Mora Jr, and Vinny are tight really bothers me....

Edit: Sorry, you are right it does say they are tight. But then he says "there is not a close bond at all." WTF is he talking about?

I have no clue what he's talking about. The more and more I think about it....it seems to me that whoever Snyder hires, he better get along with Vinny because Vinny ain't going nowhere. Maybe GW and Vinny don't get along or GW just wants to go in a different direction?

It really pains me to think that Snyder's decision will be based on Vinny....

Re: With the next round of HC interviews, when do you think the SKINS hire the new HC

Oh Im stupid. I was reading it that he was tight with Mora, but that there was no close bond between them. Which made no sense. It makes sense now that I realize that the second comment was about Williams. Silly me.

I agree. It is scary to think he would make a decision on head coach based on Cerrato. Especially if Gibbs and all the players want Williams. If Danny has to choose between the two he SHOULD choose Williams (IMO), but that seems doubtful.

I hope if Mora comes in that Saunders stays. It would suck to clear house entirely. I feel like Defense can adjust to a new system quicker then an offense. Is there any truth to that? or is the adjustment period usually about the same on either side of the ball?
