For example, with the news that Schwartz had extended his deal with the Titans I chose to add it to an existing thread primarily because it was a piece of news that would close the discussion at hand (Schwartz as Redskins HC). Now, had he not extended his deal that certainly would have merited its own thread.

Like I said, it can be tough to tell. But the mods can help. That's what we're here for. If we feel threads should be merged we can do that. There have been times we've suggested to posters to take the post they've created in an existing thread and start a new one. Or PM one of us if you have doubt about starting a new thread. I mean I'm evil, but the rest of the mods are pretty nice.

Re: Ocho Cinco In B&G

Yeah bring in another troubled reciever to start up problems on the team and create a hostile work place. Remember how good of a player Michael Westbrook was but because of his bad behavior it was never shown because he stayed in so much trouble.

I would rather have Randy Moss to go with Santana Moss and El, because it is very clear Randy has grown up and no longer causes the problems on the field that he use to. And for those who want to bring up the situation in Florida I really do believe R. Moss when he says he didn't do anything wrong and trust me I've never ever been a fan or R. Moss' and really still not but I do admire him for growing up and behaving properly now.

So I would rather have Randy than Chad

Moss is behaving himself because the Pats are winning. If he comes to the Skins and they pull their usual 7-9 to 9-7 routine and miss the playoffs he wont be happy.

No offense, but to say that Randy Moss is less troubled than Chad Johnson is just stupid. I really dont know where people are getting the "headcase" label from. In 2005, when the Bengals are winning everyone loves him, now that the Bengals suck he is a "headcase" And how can u compare CJ to Michael Westbrook. They are not even inthe same breath. All the people that called Chad Johnson a "headcase" need to look up the definition of the word.

See my earlier post + post #51 from Sheriff GG. In 05 Johnson began to be a problem when things didn't go well. In the last few years Johnson has been more of problem than Moss IMO. I know that Moss gave up in Oak. & he's still capable of being a problem, but overall he seems to have grown up a lot.

Re: Ocho Cinco In B&G

For some reason there's this perception that Chad Johnson is a malcontent and a locker room problem. Just because he comes up with funky celebrations and is flashy doesn't mean he's not a team player. The guy posts 1400 yard seasons every year.

As for yelling at his QB, the only time I've EVER seen him do that was this year. And is that even really a big problem? QBs and WRs can yell at each other. It happens because they're passionate and want to win. Yelling at each other does not prohibit them from playing well the next time they go back out on the field. Chad Johnson is not the kind of guy who will stop trying (like Randy Moss in Oakland) when things don't go well. He may yell at JC, but he'll still come out to practice and work hard with JC to get it right.

He's said some things about players and coaches in Cinci, but you know what, he's right. That team has ignored character. In fact, CJ is one of their GOOD character guys. He works hard, he delivers consistent performances, and he stays out of trouble. But he's surrounded by morons who break the law and coached by a guy who totally ignores it all (Marvin Lewis). The Bengals deserve criticism and Chad Johnson deserves better.

Anyone who thinks Chad is a bad guy is not paying close enough attention. Celebrations do not mean he's selfish. He's a bit of a diva, but can you say he doesn't work hard?

I agree 100% with everything you said. I really don't know what the baggage is the CJ has. Everything he does,(i.e. celebrations, sending peptbismal to other teams, and whatever else) he does it to have fun. I really don't think that he sent the peptobismal to the Browns defense to "Truly" offend them, it was supposed to be done in good fun. Same thing with the end zone celebrations they are done just for fun. He didn't throw Carson under the bus like T.O. does with just about every QB he had, he doesn't come out and say "I play when I want to play". IMO, the baggage that CJ is supposedly to have is nothing more than the media trying to make mountains out of mole hills...

He isn't necessarily a bad guy, but do you really need a diva type coming in and taking over the team? He might piss of Santana, Cooley, Randle El, or even JC if things don't go his way. I agree with a previous poster, try and develop some of these young guys that will stay longer and come at a cheaper initial price. It is time to get dirty and build an actual team and quit this sexy FA pick garbage.

Re: Ocho Cinco In B&G

Why are we even discussing this anymore? The Bengals thankfully saved us from ourselves last year by not accepting two first round picks (we wouldn't have Orakpo, Kelly, Thomas, or Fred Davis) for Chad.

Whether or not he would have been a good member of the B&G we will never know. But he's a Bengal and it's going to stay that way. End of story really.

Re: Ocho Cinco In B&G

If we want to talk about divas, we can look at our own Clinton Portis.

He and CJ are pretty similar personality-wise.

If it wasn't illegal, a combined Portis/CJ TD celebration would be AMAZING.

I admire his passion for winning though his personal antics are sometimes a little over the top. He could be a tremendous asset providing we have what it takes to deal with his "character", and the coin coming his way.
