Did he really purchase the team in 2000? Wow. I totally thought it was somewhere in the late 90's. I seriously thought Cook died in like 95 or 97 and Snyder has had it since. I looked you were not off. The team was sold in 1999 so I guess Snyders first term may have been 2000.
Lets see, Norve, Robiskie, Schottenheimer, Spurrier, Gibbs, Zorn. lol. Thats continuity for ya. lol.

With all due respect to the threads author, NOBODY outside of Snyder's inner circle REALLY knows the chain of events were, or what motivated them. All the rest is pure speculation as is evidenced from all the relible info and conjecture for the past month. TO my knowldge , none of the established pundits called for Zorn to be the HC.
DS doesn't generally get a fair shake in his Skins decisions, and that may well be the case here.
I for one applaud his efforts, and REFUSAL to bow to media and fan pressure to make a possibly premature decision, to be regretted later.

That is mostly true but VC was on the radio for 15 minutes talking about the process and a lot of the speculation was pretty right on. JZ was not on the list of HC candidates until after the Spags interview. It sounds as if they were very impressed with him and after the other interviews were done, they decided to re-interview him for the HC position. To hear Vinny and Dan tell the story, after whatever happened with Spags (either they didn't offer the job, or he didn't take it, no one but those guys knows), they called up JZ and asked him if he'd like to interview for the job.

It was actually a very interesting discussion with Vinny and it was refreshing to hear from the FO about the process. However, make no mistake about it, JZ wasn't a HC candidate until after he joined to team as the OC and after the Spags interview.

FRPLG, PK didn't really say anything negative about Danny. I guess it was more towards the fans for bashing Fassel. No one can argue Danny is unique in listening to the fans, if anything he probably listens to fans the least out of most owners.

A better team would have been Fassel, experienced in the daily calamities of life in the NFC East and Zorn. That would have been better than a rookie coach and whomever Zorn installs as his quarterback and offensive mentors.

That is basically saying he hired the wrong guy and I'd say that WTF does he know. He MAY be right but MAYBE Zorn ends up being the greatest coach in the history of the league. SOmehow I think it'll be somewhere in the middle. Agian I didn't say I disagreed I am simply tired of knee-jerk reactions to the FO moves of this team. No one ever talks about the things they do that worked. And they have done plenty.

Peter King is a queen...he hates the Redskins and kicks us at every chance he gets. Lemme ask Peter one question: If fossil is so good, why isn't he writing about how Atlanta passed him by? Why didn't Parcells hire him? Maybe it's because snyder saw what everyone else did: Fossil ain't that impressive.

With regard to his general position on the Redskins, I don't know that I'd say that PK is a Len Pasquarelli, but I guess he is indeed within the ranks of Redskin-hating football writers. The funny thing is that whenever I think of PK in the context of the 'Skins, the first thing that always comes to mind is his prediction that Wuerfful was going to have a career year as the QB in Spurrier's offense.

The only reason I wasn't excited about having Fassel is because he looks funny. He was certainly most qualified. But Gibbs said it best. Snyder needs to be comfortable with his coach.

I think sports writes are like Nostrodamus. Their goal isn't to be right everytime, instead they make many predictions and then when they're right they go back and say "see I told you so." Hell I predicted Devin Hester was going to be a playmaker doesn't mean I can see the future.

(How hes falling to the 3rd round is beyond me. This is the type of guy that should be a Redskin. I also predicted that Adam Archuleta and Bradon Lloyd would be great players. I thought the Redskins were going to the Super Bowl in 2000. Thought that Maryland would repeat as NCAA champions. Thought the Orioles could make the playoffs back in 2005. Thought that Mario Williams over Reggie Bush was the stupidist move ever. I even thought at one point that Michael Vick could be a good pocket passer.

Nostrodamus was famous for talking non-stop. At one point people started writing everything the guy said so whenever something big happened, people had a huge catalog of vague predictions that they could point out as saying that this event was predicted by nostrodamus. Such is the life of a sportswriter.

If Zorn were to turn around the Offense in any kind of significant way he would be outta here in a year or two as a head coach somewhere else and we would have Fassel. I don't mind taking a chance on Zorn at all although I didn't really have a problem with Fassel either. For some reason when I heard Matt Hasselbeck say a few weeks ago that we should have hired Zorn as the head coach I just had a feeling that he might be on to something.

Actually, I am excited that apparently Jim Fassel was the man barring a large unforseen interruption in the process. Apparently VC and DS were so overwelmed with JZ, they stopped the search, and gave him the job. To me that means he has the "IT"....and we did not settle for what has been termed a "retread".

Not to sidetrack things but when has Peter King EVER said that Snyder has made good decisions? As a mtter of fact, I have come to the conclusion that writers think that team owners should never have anything to do with managing the football team. Owners are a bunch of football illiterates that are incapable of making any decision related to football. I'd like to find one example of a writer speaking well about an owner that is involved with the team. Writers tell us that the only good owners are the ones that stand back and watch from afar.

Is it at all possible that an owner, who is involved with football 24-7 for more than 5 years, might have learned enough about the game to be a valuable decision maker in football related processes? I'm not saying "is" I'm saying "could be"!

Off topic, but I was just thinking about the NFLN show "Top 10 Scrambling QB's". Zorn was on the list, 9 or 10 I think, but I think there was like some goofy milk commercial from the late '70s with him and Steve Largent. It had some kind of jingle like "Milk, it makes your bones grow strong" or something like that. Couldn't find it on YouTube. Am I crazy or does someone remember that/have a link?
