Re: the cut shaun suisham tomorrow thread

Suisham does suck, being short on those 2 kicks against the Cowgirls and Giants (I think) was inexcusable. His miss tonight looked like it had the distance, just pushed it to the right. However, I don't think that at this point in the season there is anyone out there who will be much of an upgrade, if at all. So, in sum, Suisham sucks, but at this point you're not going to do much better.

Alas, logic!

It's too late for a change now but I would definitely look into an upgrade for next year.

Re: the cut shaun suisham tomorrow thread

It's stupid and reactionary to blame Suisham for the loss and to demand that he gets cut. The Goat is right- should we cut half the offensive line as well? What about the receivers? They didn't do much. And Campbell? 2 INT's as well as a fumble that wasn't called. Yeah, Suisham is a Russian Roulette beyond 40 yards. Nevertheless, he has connected two thirds of attempts beyond 40 and has only missed one less than 40. I find it hard to believe that people don't understand how much worse our kicking game could be. Who do we replace him with? What kicker out there, who is currently unemployed because he wasn't able to get the job done with other teams, is suddenly going to come in and start hitting more than 70% of field goals beyond 40 yards?

Be smart here. If there is a better kicker available, then by all means, we should sign him. But unless you have a suggestion, stop the reactionary nonsense and get over the fact that the Redskins offense sucks, and that's why we lose games.

well there is.......a better kicker than him somewhere out there right now....that isnt reactionary, he is consistently missing fields goals for a team that needs every point it can get.......we arent even asking him to be consistent from 50, its from inside of 50, and he cant do it, he never has done it either, and when you miss field goals it takes the life out of your offense.............we are the only team in the league that cant say we are in field goal range when we reach the 35 yard line.......only one.

Re: the cut shaun suisham tomorrow thread

Suisham isn't the problem with our offense, but he is a big problem on special teams. In the last 4 games, he's been awful, going 4 for 8 on field goal attempts. That's not bad, that's wretched. I could forgive a 4 game slump, even of this magnitude, had he played well earlier in the season, but he didn't. He was bad on field goal attempts AND kickoffs.

I could sign just about any free agent kicker and reasonably expect him to hit more than 50% of his attempts, or even 70% of his attempts (which is Suisham's accuracy on field goals through the course of the season).

Yes, it looked exactly like MY reaction to another choke.

2009 F/A kickers, we NEED to get one of these guys, even if it costs more money than a kicker is usually worth. Suisham kills us. We've been playing without a good kicker since Lohmiller.

Robbie Gould (would be GREAT but the Bears love him)
Shayne Graham (great choice)
John Kasay (how OLD is he?)
Mike Nugent (another fine choice)
Matt Stover (another golden oldie)
Tyler Jones (Who? Who cares, he's not Suisham)

I'd love to get Gould, but he's probably not going anywhere, so Graham is my second choice. Still young enough to keep for a long time.

I'd love to have Gould as well, but he signed a 5 year extension in May and is the league's richest kicker....

Gould signs five-year extension through 2013 season - Chicago Bears

SS has missed more kicks than any other NFL kicker. That could also be because we cannot score TD's so he kicks more often.

Well a real old time welcome home just might do the trick...I mean look at Smoot as a prime example.

Is Mosely available?

Re: the cut shaun suisham tomorrow thread

Morten Andersen just retired...again...for like the 9th time. He's only 48, younger than Moseley (60). But outside 37 yards, he would be a crapshoot at best. And the Skins would have to find a kickoff specialist.
