Sorry. I can remember Rypian looking so goofy and thought he would not take us anywhere. I think he was coached up .....a lot. LOL.
Please tell me you were still in diapers in '91. If not...wow...

By the way, I watched this without the heads-up.

Nope. I'm 41. I went to Broad Run H.S. and the band was allowed to play at the SB parade in DC during the first SB in the 80's. In the Navy during the second and a free man in 91.

Anyone else catch the part at the beginning where Gibbs is talking about Jack Kent Cooke getting angry with him after the poor preseason? I thought it was telling when Gibbs was recounting the conversation and Cooke said, basically, "Jimmy Johnson is building the team in Dallas the right way and you have too many old guys on this team." But then he concluded by saying, "I'm not going to get in your way, you have to do what you think, but I'm telling you what I think."

Re: 1991 Redskins are on NFL network right NOW!!!

The one thing I remember about all of the Redskins' super bowl wins is that they had outstanding offensive lines. That's what we need now so I hope this year isn't wasted by not having guys who can both run and pass block. All 3 super bowl wins were because the Redskins had QBs who had the time to make good decisions, and the O-Line gave them that time.

Luckily we made the most of it by picking Heath Shuler.
Actually I think it had to do more with the team getting old. There just wasn't enough good young players in the pipeline to replace aging vets. Plus those first few years of free agency Casserly totally blew it on the guys he brought in. Tim Magee, Al Noga, Tom Carter, Desmond Howard ( that was Gibbs) John Friez, Stanley Richard, Tyronne Stowe, James Washington and so on. There was also a LB from Seattle that COULD NOT tackle anyone. Forgot his name. I can't believe I even remember some of those bums. lol.

You make a good argument but I don't think our arguments are mutually exclusive. Some vets got old, some had to go because of their price tags. And, no matter what, we did not replace losses with good young talent, as you describe.
