*RB Marcus Mason got only three carries last night because of lingering rib soreness from the shot he took a week ago against New England. Coaches said last week that Mason needed to improve in pass protection and on special teams. So how'd he do, coach?

"I thought the he probably did more in pass protection than he needed to," Zorn said. "He was doing some thing last night when we did have him in. He was trying to chip a defensive end when he didn't have to chip a defensive end because we had him blocked. He's very willing to strike a blow. The thing that I want to see more of out of him if he has the opportunity to be here is to get into his routes and really run his pass routes instead of being so conscious of the pass protection. He's got to get into his routes quicker."

Mason must be going crazy. They tell him all summer to work on his pass protection...and then they tell him not to worry about pass protection so much. I think they're purposely playing jedi mind tricks on him

Mike Williams looked slow. You can't beat him with the bull rush but you can easily run around him.

I've been rooting for him but he does look slow. Maybe he will speed up when he doesn't have to think about who he's blocking but I would put him in as Guard when they are pass blocking just to take up space.

Dude hasn't played at all. That was Williams' first real action so I'm not surprised he looked a little "leaden". I think he will get better and quicker as the season progresses. He sure is a huge beast to have to go around as a defensive player.

I've been thinking about colt and daniel...nothing has really changed since opening day of training camp except Colt's potential taking a major dive.
My gut feel is that they always wanted 3 qbs and a practice squad QB...and I think that is what they will do...if someone else picks up daniel...so be it...he's earned a shot on a roster somewhere.
I personally prefer him...especially in this system, but I seriously doubt they will cut colt.

And yeah, I think Mike Williams should be cut after his performance...very weak.
But...he wont be, unless they can score a seriously solid backup T elsewhere

They updated this to say they think Mason will make the squad.
I just don't see it based off of all the negative comments the coaches are making.
It is entirely possible the skins dont add a change of pace back at all.
ya never know...maybe the best #4 back is someone elses cut

Yeah, but, today's comments are full of praise for Mason, how well he blocked and played on specials. I don't see it, but hey, I wasn't specifically keeping an eye on Mason either.

I mentioned this in another thread about praise being heaped on Mason. Don't read too much into it

Another possibility tomorrow could be to stash Colt in IR for the season and save him for next year and make Daniel our #3 this year.

I agree with the DC sports blog except for the fact that they think Renaldo Wynn makes this team...you can replace his sport with either
Rob Jackson
Dominique Dorsey
Antonio Dixon
Eddie Williams

Same for Robert Thomas, considering that we spent a pick on Cody Glenn and Henson I feel has pretty much locked up his spot on the roster aswell. So you could replace Robert Thomas with any of the guys I mentioned above.
