They just needed a body for the scout team. This kid will do that well enough.

Tell me one backup QB we played that did as well as Chase. If JC does poorly [hope he doesn't] this first half of the season, do you continue to lose and play him anyway? Or do you start to rebuild with a new guy for the next season? Who's that going to be? BL - Zorn is putting all his eggs in Campbells basket. No need to worry about any project players if this is your last year as the coach. Unless Zorn wins 9 games or more he'll be gone, as well as all the other coaches. |

Re: Redskins to SIgn QB Andre Woodson to PS
Wow. Lots of acrimony for a thread about the PS... easy fellas.
From what I gather, Zorn and Vinny wanted Chase for the PS, but Chase got an offer to go to NOs PS and went. Given the offense in NO, not a bad move by Chase, though I think the conventional wisdom is that Chase really is too small. Whatever. He was undrafted for a reason. Once the FO decided to go with 2 QBs (a smart move, IMO--there's a fair number of decent vets out there...), Chase was gone. As for the kid from the gints, why does anyone think this is some "big move"? It's smart: we're playing the gints, we get a guy from their team to run the scout team in practice. If Bellichick does this, everyone crows about what a genius move it is. We do it, and it's more evidence of our stupidity. Whatever...

For what it's worth, I just heard Woodson set an NCAA record for throwing 325 straight passes without an INT. Zorn may work with him a little and if he doesn't like him, let him go and get someone else. Big deal.

Re: Redskins to SIgn QB Andre Woodson to PS
Why are we so worried about a PS QB, Chase or Woodson? They both will not see the field this season. Even if we kept Chase he would have been holding a clip board like Colt did last season. QB is not a positon we need to be concerned about its our lack of depth behind Chris Samuels.

Woodson and Campbell are mirror images of each other.

Re: Redskins to SIgn QB Andre Woodson to PS
So, wouldn't that be a good thing, at least from the point of view of offensive consistency? If it came to adding him in, which I don't think would ever happen, wouldn't it be better to have a qb who plays like the qb he is replacing?

Re: Redskins to SIgn QB Andre Woodson to PS
Tommy boy gets a so called laugh at what Andre knows....? Hum...we'll see in a week! Come on week 1.
Redskin Insider: Posted at 1:40 PM ET, 09/ 7/2009 Coughlin Scoffs at Woodson's Value That Tom Coughlin is one suspicious guy. According to Mike Garofolo of the Newark Star-Ledger, Coughlin was asked Monday about the possibility that Andre Woodson would divulge important info about his former team, the New York Giants, to his new team, the Washington Redskins ahead of the teams' season opener Sunday. "You mean, 'Why is he in Washington right now?' " the coach said with a laugh. "It's pretty obvious why he's in Washington. There's no question that's what's going on. We'll see what transpires. It works both ways a little bit." Both ways? Oh, they do have Antonio Pierce. "I've been a part of it. I've seen it done," Coughlin said with a smile. "The guy doesn't get in the door two seconds and he's in a classroom getting grilled. But not of late [has Coughlin done it]." Coughlin -- that kidder -- cracked that everything Woodson was taught was a decoy or a red herring or a pickled herring or something. "It was all out there so that Andre would take it with him," he said.
