Just so you know, those stats are misleading. Those stats also represent QB ACCURACY. Hines Ward's & Co.'s catch percentages are representative of their QB.

Considering how much we've assailed Brunell (who started 9 of 10 games) and Ramsey for their accuracy (who collectively have the worst completion percentage in the league for starters), you can't reference the percentage caught as an indication of the WR's hands.

Roethlisberger has a 69% completion percentage whereas Burnell had a 49% completion percentage. That says it all.

so ward and plaxico are one of the best tandems i think, still doesnt mean we are awful. i bet you a bunch of the players on O are wishing they played under another coach right now. makes me wonder if someone like smoot, in a contract yr, will even want to come back to Same Old Story DC...

While I've liked the flashes of talent jacobs has shown, no one other than coles, and sometimes not even him, has proven to be a reliable recieving threat. I think we need a player like m. williams or b. edwards to prevent coles from being cosistently being double teamed as well as teams often keeping 8 at the line of scrimmage to stop our only realy weapon in portis. No one in our wr corp can do that even if ramsey is throwing the ball accurately on a consistent basis. Some may be afraid of our recent history of selecting wrs with first round picks but that doesn't hide the fact that we need a player that is a liable downfield threat opposite of coles and gardner, mccants, and jacobs just ain't up to snuff at this point in their careers. We could probably even trade down a little and still get edwards as well as address both the offensive and defensive lines(especially with my boy Chris Canty being a possible late first/early second day steal after his injury.)

Well, taking Taylor Jacobs as an example. If he's not up to snuff yet at this point in his NFL career, how would a player still in college be more ready?

I think our WR corps is fine. I don't think they're the best in the NFL, but I still think we have more depth at WR then anywhere else.

I'm talking both talent and grooming. I honestly think jacobs, while on the smallish side, has the most natural talent outside of coles, but he isn't a legitimate threat right now. maybe next year he will be when he gets more time to actually be on the field, but both williams and edwards among others would be coming in as rookies with much more talent and would provide us with a player that could actually get seperation down the field. I don't want a major overhaul to the team but I think a highly talented wr opposite of coles would do a lot more than some may realize. for the first time in a long time the problem most needing to be addressed isn't on the defensive side cuz last time I checked that part of the team is doing pretty well, while our offense is absolutely repulsive. Offensive line, d-line, or wr, it doesn't really matter to me right now but out of the 3 areas needing to be addressed, the only one I'd use a first round pick on would be wr cuz our playmakers aren't doing squat right now.
