The 6th? I don't think he's buried that far. By all accounts he's been the most pleasant surprise of the WRs so far during camp.

Well, look at who's ahead of him

Moss
Gaffney
AA
Hankerson

He's 5th at best

I'd say he's solidly the 5th, and if Hankerson doesn't start catching the ball he could be the 4th.

By reports you could argue him as the 5th true WR but that doesn't include what we and the media don't see/pick up on.

? He's definately #5 at minimum:

1. Moss
2. Gaffnery
3. Armstrong
4. Hankerson
5. Paul

Neither Banks, Austin, or Stallworth have a snowballs chance in hell of making the roster unless we carry 6 receivers.

I wouldn't write off Austin yet.

not writing him off completely, he just doesnt have as much upside. he also could easily be stashed on the practice squad and we wouldnt have to worry about anyone picking him up. now i HAVE completely written off banks and stallworth.

Speaking of. We need to get a Preseason Hero thread going. Who will be this year's Marko Mitchell?

Honestly I'm going with Markus White based on reports saying he's dominating against the scrubs while getting handled or neutralized against the veterans that know how to handle his moves.

Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread

Per John Keim

WR Niles Paul. Has stood out because of his consistent hands. He’s a physical player and is as anxious as anyone to show it on the field. I like that he pesters WR coach Keenan McCardell for more reps/time. He needs to polish his routes.

On pace for: Practice squad/No. 6 WR spot. Long way to go but had a good opening two weeks. Needs to make plays on special teams in the preseason. Right now he’s behind guys like Terrence Austin and Donte Stallworth. But can you keep Stallworth as a fifth or sixth WR if he doesn’t play special teams. Don’t think so.

I hate Stallworth on this team. 3 catches last year and nothing special with a loaded Pats team two years before that. Now he's going to possibly result in us cutting a promising young receiver just so we can repeat the Joey Galloway experiment.

Doubt he even makes the team unless he plays his ass off in these games or someone gets hurt.

As Keim says do you keep him as a #5 who doesn't even play ST? Doubt it.
