I have to admit, even though I loathe the Steelers too, it was really nice seeing the Eagles get dismantled - despite it being preseason.

I hate that my Eagles co-worker is not here at work today. I was prepared to laugh at him.

wait a second, it's still preseason?

well eagles fans are what they are, eagles fans, as skins fans i know we are pretty bad but the eagles have to be at the top of the list of over reactive fans. i'm not a big nba fan, but the heat looked pretty shitty at the begining of the year last year but they got it together towards the mid part of the season. thats what i can see happening with the eagles, just a lot of new parts that need time to adjust, but i really hope it blows up in their faces

Re: NFL Preseason Week #2

The Steelers exposed the Eagles weaknesses for what they were, but this isn't something that caught the Eagles off guard or anything. This team is going to look terrible down 14-0. They can't handle a power running game and Vick is still unproven from behind 10 years into his career.

This will be good for dialing down the Eagles hype machine. They're going to lose two or three games just like this over the course of the year, where they look horribly overrated. But that's still going to leave them in the running for a ten win season.

ONLY Preseason??
Anybody think Andy Reid is....unconcerned (not slitting his wrists..but).
Mark Schlereth describes preseason best. "It does not count, but it does matter".
Our performance against Steeler starters albeit short was telling. They did well. It shows that perhaps there is hope that the Skins HAVE made significant improvements and maybe we are heading in the right direction.
Is it all conclusive...of course not but would you be unconcerned if we got our ass handed to us?
It matters if it is taken for what it is.....

Of course there may be some concern on part of the Eagles, it's just silly how crazy people get over this preseason stuff.

Insane crazy. I was in DC, Baltimore and New York last week and listened to sports radio (the Fan) in each city. It is freaking insane how the fans are going nuts based on how their teams are playing in the preseason. Dumb.
The winning teams use preseason the way it is supposed to be used, to take a really good look at all of the scrubs in order to fill out the bottom half roster correctly. Plus they do not run any of their bread and butter plays on offense and defense. So the winning teams usually lose most of the preseason games.
While the bad teams feel like they have something to prove and really try hard to win them all. They play their starters longer and thus against the other teams scrubs, so they have a false sense of improvement. Kind of like last week where we played our starters the entire first half and the Steelers starters only played the first series or two.
Once the regular season starts, it will be completely diffrent level of play. Similar to the rise in play when the playoffs start.

Our starters were not played for a longer period than the Steelers for some.....BS false sense of security. The Skins have made wholesale changes over much of the team with many occurring in the projected starting ranks. There is much to be seen and just trying to get them some semi-legit game time playing together for familiarity sake.
The Steelers on the other hand made few changes to their projected starting line-up and much less to be gained by playing their starters longer.

I never said the Redskins played their starters longer to create that illusion. I just gave that as an example where one team plays its starters much longer than the other team and the Redskins fans went nuts on the radio Monday talking about how great we are now. It happens every year.

What I took from our first games was our starters played better then theirs and then our 2nd and 3rd teamers, etc... out palyed them as well. If they do the same tonight then its starting to tell me we are well coached across the board and moving in the right direction.

Exactly. So many people all jacked up over the Skins solid 1st half against mostly Steeler backups, people thinking the sky is falling in Philly because of last night... It's all so dumb. Yeah Philly looked like crap last night, but they looked pretty darn good last week, and they'll probably look pretty good next week. Who cares?

I'll remind everyone again that the Lions had a 4-0 preseason the year they went 0-16 in the regular season.

Re: NFL Preseason Week #2

And I'm sure if we come out tonight and tee off on Curtis freaking Painter we'll have Skins fans in droves predicting a 12 win season.
