re: Updated: Jaguars Claim Jason Babin
Doesn't the people who claim him also pick up that contract? If so, I doubt he does clear waivers.

Yes but who says they can't cut him following the season? They didn't pay him any guaranteed money so a future cap-hit doesn't exist unless you keep through roster/work out bonuses.

Nobody will want him off waivers with his current contract. He'll pass through waivers and become a FA.

I think you can still cut him, there is no more guaranteed money on his contract. So he'd be playing the rest of this year for his contract next year. Who cares beyond this season....

re: Updated: Jaguars Claim Jason Babin
I was in the do not pick him up catagory. Hearing the Junkies today talking about how he's 32y/o, and how his contract is not friendly, and how he would probably want to sign deal for more then just the rest of the games this season.....
It all made sense but this writer also makes sense. Jason Babin: Why the Washington Redskins Should Take a Chance on Ex-Eagle | Bleacher Report Babin was picked up by the Texans to play in the 3-4 and failed, then got picked up by the Eagles, played well and got double digit sacks each year, then got cut and picked up by the Chiefs (I think) and cut again, then the Eagles bring him back and he got hurt last yr and only has single digit sacks this yr. A fan pointed out on the Junkies that Babin is a one trick pony and is not trainable and basically was told to just ... go after the QB. Plus the Eagles ran a 4-3 defense. BUT.... Haslett has been implimenting more 4-3 to our scheme and it seemed to work better against the Eagles and Cowboys. I think if Babin clears waivers and we can get him on the cheap, then I could see picking him up for 3rd downs when utilizing the 4-3 scheme to rush the QB while keeping the LB's back to stop the run and passes to TE's. This way teams would have to adjust their protection towards him and that would give Kerrigan a better chance at the QB. Quote:

Eh. The Jags need the help.
I'd be so much happier drafting talent or picking up some young FA than an up and down dude with character issues.

Re: Updated: Jaguars Claim Jason Babin
I'm surprised Jacksonville even bothered to claim him. They're 2-9 and it's not like he's a big enough name to put butts in the seats. But it looks like they're last in sacks, so I guess they think he can do something for them?
