Re: Out of state Redskins fan rant….Parental Guidance Suggested

I have to completely agree on people who poke fun at the injury. I have seen it on FB and where I work. And unfortunately, I work in a high school with students who think they know everything or that it's appropriate to make fun of an athlete being injured.

Anyone who played sport, at any point, should know that sportsmanship comes first. Regardless of how much you dislike or how fired up the competition gets you there has to be respect. Opponents are people just like us and our Redskins, who go out and risk themselves for a game they love. Teams losing is ground for a laugh, no harm no foul, injury to body is something that shouldn't be joked about. It's why our youngsters take a knee when a player gets hurt or why we all clap when an injured player gets hurt. It's respect.

I dislike players like Romo, Vick, Eli...etc. But they are people who risk themselves for a game and for our entertainment. They can lose every Sunday for all I care but I wouldn't risk serious injury on any individual.

You know another point that someone touched on before, it’s basically beating your head against the wall trying to explain to non Redskins fan that RG3 is not a classic “Running QB”. The very definition of such has changed in the last two seasons with Cam Newton and RG3. In the past with QB’s like Cunningham, pre-Shanahan Elway, Vick etc…they were the type that would run around buy time wait 3 or so seconds then take off whether anyone was open or not. They had virtually no designed running plays called for them. Starting last season with Cam Newton you now see these QB’s with plays specifically designed tailored to their running ability, whether it’s a punishing style like Newton, or a speed style lie RG3. Most of the ignorant fans that I deal with just see them run and quickly label him as such and don’t want to hear it. So I say **** Em and move on.

I agree. RG3 can be a deadly pocket passer. His running ability is over emphasized by fans including Redskins fans and even coaches, I still do not like the option. Run it with Griffin maybe once a game where instead of giving it to Morris he just keeps it and bootlegs around the corner (would be great on the goal line).

I'm not a Shanahan basher, I don't want him fired. However, you can't keep telling everyone you saw black, when we all saw white. I don't really care what non-skins fans say.

I normally don't mind either and I don't get into it much with them, that's why I felt the need to vent.

Re: Out of state Redskins fan rant….Parental Guidance Suggested

Only read a few posts but here was my take of the game,

1st quarter the Skins ran well because the Seahawks had to respect RG3's running. (obviously) but also becaus from what I saw, and when it happened during the season we would lose, the Skins got away from "play action". Go back and watch. Every game they got away from RG3 taking the ball from under center and faking the hand off the Redskins lost. It also seemed that in those games they would rely more on the pitch plays.

The first quarter the team did well because they were utilizing the play action. When RG3 got hit for the second time and rolled out of bounds and got up limping they got away from him having to take the ball out from under center and moving less. He simply sat in the pistol and tried to throw which the Seahawks then simply backed off the run and covered the pass more. Just my observation.

The team needed to take RG3 out and put Cousins in either end of the 2nd half or atleast at half time. He would have been able to move better and to utilize the play action better. with out it the Seahawks didn't have to worry about Morris. But instead they put him in with only 5 min. left and needing two scores or 3 scores after the bad snap fumble.

Griffin is more like Fran Tarkenton than Michael Vick.

And Tarkenton played until he was 87 years old, I think.... Let's hope RGIII can do that.

Fran had neither speed nor a gun for an arm. However he was the most evasive QB ever, and the fact that he could extend plays like crazy made his passing very effective.

Probably the most exciting QB to watch play ever.

So not at all like RG, IMHO. RG has it all...

And Michael Vick doesn't even belong in this conversation.

I can't comment on that comparison since I never seen Tarkenton play. I have seen a million highlights of him in slow motion, but when I was growing up I remember him from "That's Incredible" and not on the filed. Are you even old enough to have seen him play?

I saw Tarkenton play and think that he is not a bad comparison for Gryphon in terms of style: dangerous and quick legs, ability to extend plays to create big opportunities, a deep ball which is both powerful and accurate, and natural leadership. But Griff is better than Tarkenton.

No.

But up until RGIII, he was probably the best passing and running combo QB ever. OK, maybe up until Steve Young, but Fran did it in an era where QBs did not play like that. He was the first real dual-threat QB. QBs in that era were all statues in the pocket. Tark ran for about 300 yards a season and 32 career rushing TDs.

Tobin Rote in the 50s was the first real rushing QB threat, but wasn't the passer that Tarkenton was.

Oh...back on track for the thread...you better believe I'm dying a Redskins fan. Even if some PC-assclowns manage to force a name change, I'm still calling the team the Redskins.

Heck, for the same reason, I still like to call the Washington basketball team the Bullets. Wizards is a retarded name...sounds more fitting for some pathetic soccer team.

Of course he's better in terms of ability. Impossible to compare the eras though.

Fran Tarkenton was born in Richmond if anyone cares.
