Re: Who To Keep
To add to the QB Numbers Breakdown:
In it's simplest form, the object of the offense is to score points. The most important thing your QB can do is help you score points. Interceptions do not automatically turn into points for the other team. I mean, we obviously know this because the Redskins haven't scored a TD after a turnover in 20 years (I exaggerate... slightly). Anyway... here is the Points-per-QB Breakdown: McCoy: 15.8 Points per 4 Quarters (3.94/Quarter) 16 quarters - 63 points Double-Digit Quarters: 1 Shutout Quarters: 5 Griffin: 16.1 Points per 4 Quarters (4.04/Quarter) 28 Quarters - 113 Points Double-Digit Quarters: 3 Shutout Quarters: 10 Cousins: 23.8 Points per 4 Quarters (5.95/Quarter) 21 Quarters - 125 Points Double-Digit Quarters: 4 Shutout Quarters: 5

Re: Who To Keep
Just came across this list of our FAs, and thought I'd post it:
Here’s a list of the Redskins' unrestricted and restricted free agents: Unrestricted: Colt McCoy, QB Leonard Hankerson, WR Santana Moss, WR Niles Paul, TE Roy Helu, RB Tyler Polumbus, OL Jarvis Jenkins, DE Chris Neild, NT Brian Orakpo, LB E.J. Biggers, CB Ryan Clark, FS Brandon Meriweather, SS Restricted: Trenton Robinson, FS Kai Forbath, PK Justin Rogers, CB For me, I'd keep Orakpo (but only with a very cap friendly deal based on playing time given his injury history), Helu, Paul, and Forbath, and I am on the fence about Hankerson (get on the field, son), Moss (love you as a Redskin -- any gas left in that tank?), and McCoy (played with heart this year). Neild is intriguing to me, but cannot stay healthy (the new Carriker), and the rest aren't core players.

Re: Who To Keep
really none of those guys are super important. rak at a good deal would be nice, but it's too likely someone gets desperate and gives him money. paul and helu are worth having back if they're cheap, as is neild.
kai i think has really hurt us with his short KOs, but he IS better than a ham sandwich, so... |

Re: Who To Keep
It's been like we let go of Hankerson already. Not a loss if we let him go.

Re: Who To Keep
Why do we even keep Leonard Hankerson? I think he was active for 1 game after he came off the PUP list.

Re: Who To Keep
I think we've kept Hankerson as he's our tallest receiver (and there's a desire for a possession receiver), and he's shown flashes. But he also seems to have been bitten buy the injury bug, didn't really come back 100% this season even after he was activiated from PUP, and otherwise hasn't shown consistency.
If the team continues to be high on Grant, it isn't clear we keep Hankerson (as DJax, Garcon, and Roberts aren't going anywhere). I think Hankerson may be the beneficiary of the fact that we have so many holes elsewhere that we're not likely to invest any further in WRs. If there's some rookie or cheap FA that comes available, he may get nudged. But short of that, I wouldn't be surprised to see him hang around, especially because we would likely be able to re-sign him on the cheap and he's probably #5 anyway.

Re: Who To Keep
New Redskins mantra: WWSD (what would Scot do?)

Re: Who To Keep
Gotta love the feeling of optimism. Everyone needs to remember that this is going to take time. SM is going to need 3 solid drafts and hit on a few free agents.

Re: Who To Keep
Excellent mantra. Let's hope that King Passive Aggressive and Prince Arrogance stick to it.

Re: Who To Keep
Personally, I'm resigned to the idea of this task taking a few years. I think it's time to have some organizational stability with clearly defined roles for management, players selected to fit the schemes we play, and time for those players to learn and develop within the same system for which they were drafted.

Re: Who To Keep
Orakpo must go. He can not stay healthy and after 6 NFL season he has developed one pass rush move. Expensive, injury prone and not very productive: that is the type of Snyder era player we are trying to get away from.
Orakpo has had three serious torn pectoral injuries. That is really bad. Other players that need to go, below average players that will never get significantly better...so time to go in another direction: 1) EJ Biggers 2) Kedric Golston 3) Ryan Clark 4) Brandon Meriweather 5) Chris Neild 5) Santana Moss (great redskin in his day,but time to go) |
