Re: Quarterback Hype

I'm not saying to give up on RGIII, but give yourself a better chance with another viable option.

Re: Quarterback Hype

noooooo. i dont think were truly in that buisness lol

we cant live in this league with 3rd stringers starting on the Oline and secondary. We have talent here, a bum here, ok here, a bum there. too many weak spots and average fillers on defense.

let rg get one year where he feels like his job isnt on the line. kills a players confidence. some it helps. some it just irritates and gets in theyre head and they play worse. nobody can relate from a real life scenario?..no?..okie.

I'm still kind of in disbelief that after everything that we've seen from RG3, how can prevailing thought be to not give up on him yet? I understand that we paid a king's ransom for him - but like some here have said - we have a chance to fix our mistake...

There is certainly no harm in having RGIII here this season even if we were to draft Mariota. Drafting Mariota might just light a fire under him. I truly don't care who our starting QB is as long as he does a good job for the team.

If we were to draft Mariota and either or both RGIII and Kirk were unhappy about - well, that sounds like a personal problem to me. They are getting paid well to play football for the Redskins and they can just deal with it. Hopefully, they would deal with it by competing even harder to win the starting job.

We keep hearing about the "investment" in RGIII. I don't think that any draft pick is a investment. They are all gambles because you never really know beforehand who will make it in the NFL. What we paid for the right to draft RGIII is sunk cost. It's gone and it can never be fully recovered. As a practical matter, people should just forget about it.

Re: Quarterback Hype

This team doesn't have the OL to help Mariota, RG3, or Cousins. The offensive line may be fine for a veteran QB, but not these guys.

The O-line needs improvement. But KC only took 7 or 8 sacks. Griffin was sacked over 30 times. If KC can cut down on the terrible INT's he's more than ok with this line.

Cousins started to play bad after he started to get rattled.

I don't understand why people keep talking about RG3 when I talk about the OL. RG3 has his issues that may or may not get resolved. But our OL in general is not suited to help the two QBs we have on the roster; nor will they help a rookie QB.

If the team wants to keep the OL the way it is, they need to bring a veteran QB that can overcome these issues.

If they want to give RG3 or Cousins another chance or bring in Mariota or another rookie, you can't have the same line we've had in the past two seasons.

Thank you.

When the play calls for a three step drop, the offensive line should be able to set up their protection for a three step drop, rather than trying to guess where RG3 is going to hunker down and take an incredibly awkward sack.

We have a mediocre offensive line that could use improvement on the right side. They are only terrible when RG3 is taking the snaps.

Why would you take another QB who's an exact clone of RGIII and shares his same flaws? (coming from spread offense) Jay wants no part of it, that much is pretty evident. When are people going to learn you don't draft spread offense QBs unless your plan is to sit them for a good while as they learn? Did anybody listen to Mike Shanahan's interview when he discussed how Robert wasn't ready for a conventional offense even after year 1?? These guys are projects in the biggest form.

I can see them moving Griffin on trade day, but not drafting Mariota. They'll move back if they can.

Valid point and one that's backed up by an article I read in Feb. about how teams were liking Bradford over Mariota. This goes back to my point about Chip using Bradford as a bargaining piece to move up for MM. Why would he if they valued Bradford over MM? Also, if any teams in top 5-10 valued Bradford over MM, why wouldn't they just trade that pick to the Rams for Bradford? If I"m the Titans and want a QB and think Bradford is better than MM, why not trade the #2 for him? That's provided all the other players on your board rank below Bradford as well.

I don't think Chippy values Bradford more than Mariota. That's why the Bradford trade, by itself, is odd.

Why didn't teams other than Philly trade with the Rams for Bradford? Who knows. Maybe the Rams demanded some sort of starting QB in trade because they don't like Mariota either. If so, neither Tennessee nor the Skins could ante up, because we don't have player trading pieces who resemble starting QB's.

I think it's one of those 3-way trades, just in slow motion.

BTW I think you are dead on about why we wouldn't draft Mariota, barring Bruce Allen pulling another McNabb fiasco or ownership falling in love with MM.

Hearing 4 GMs will attend the Oregon pro day including McCloughan. Titans, Bucs and Jets GM will be there as well.

I still think Titans will draft him.

IMO I just don't see it. Yes, the Titans are QB-hungry. But Mariota just is not the Whisenhunt type of QB. Whiz loves pocket passers. I just don't see him passing on someone like Leonard Williams so that he can draft a QB at #2 who doesn't fit his system.
