except you really weren't... the common concensus was that maybe moss wasn't as good but moss + patten were better than gardner + coles.

I know I personally had no problems with letting coles go or sitting him for a year.

You know what, looking back, I still wouldnt have minded Rod Gardner on this team (if he wanted to be here). He really could have filled the role of a possession reciver alot better than any of our other guys, perticuarly down the stretch. But he didnt want to be here, so I think it was a good call.

i don't think he had the kind of attitude that gibbs likes, nor does he have the skills.

I've never been anti Gardner; in fact we could have used his presence last season. I must say that his comments make sense and he's capable of making big plays when balls are thrown his way. He's a solid # 2 WR, maybe even #1 on some teams.

We have not seen the last of Rod Gardner.

Am I missing something? He wasn't a solid #2 the last few years here, ran wrong routes, dropped routine catches, thouroughly earned the nickname 50/50 and 'Drop it like it's hot' and we could have used him this season?? He wasn't even good enough to be a #4 in Carolina last season GOT CUT DURING THE SEASON and was only on Green Bay because every one of their WR was hurt and still didn't distinguish himself.. Are we talking about the same Rod Gardner? We're heard the last of him.

Re: Shannon Sharpe on Rod Gardner.

All I'm saying is the guy has potential. I wouldn't write him off just yet.

I think he's better than every WR on our roster, with the exception of Santana.

You weren't exactly right. Moss had an incredible year but Patten??? Did he outperform Gardner or Coles, NO. The one thing everybody seems to be saying is that we need a 2nd reciever. I thought Gardner played well and certainly could throw the ball on a option play, but he was not just let go cause of his skills on the field. Lets just say that he was not a core skin that Gibbs likes.

Coles with a toe injury is not better than anyone on the team now. Coles was a good WR before he got hurt, but after his injury, he was no where near what we paid him to be.

Gardner would be a very good player if he was consistent, but he's not. He could not be relied upon to produce when he was wearing a Redskins jersey. No ifs ands or buts about it, that's fact.
I think Steve Spurrier benched everyone on the Offense at least once...

He was always changing QB's or Running backs. Talking about how he like to play the "hot hand." Whatever the hell that means. And if I remember correctly, Gardner got benched for Chris Doering, I could be wrong, but I think that's who stepped in to play for him.

Re: Shannon Sharpe on Rod Gardner.

This thread is comical. I looked at the original post and almost hurt myself laughing.

Coles better than any receiver on the roster. I guess that was slightly off. Coles is done.

Who really thinks that Gardener is worth a damn? The guy pushes off on every ball he catches and is a premier drive killer. Good luck with Aaron Rodgers (if he can make Green Bay's roster).

Good riddance...

That being said he is better than any of our #2s...

We are still not getting Keyshawn... :yeahright :smashfrea :smashfrea :frusty:

BTW wish you guys a great season this year. Can't wait to see the Redskins and Panthers play Saturday night...I know it is preseason but it's still Football.

gardner has and will be a 1000 yard receiver. i wish him well, btw i agree with the comments he made. the offence was horrible, the QB's are garbage.

patten is a scrub. moss is delicate. coles is better than they are.

Wouldn't you know it? Fooz currenlty is in a bidding war to be the host of NFL Live on ESPN and the main writer for Sports Illustrated, taking over Peter Kings job.

Good luck Fooz!

Seems like most of the ones he benched are now gone. Coincidence?
