We have to remember, this is all speculation and rumors. Ramsey isnt going anywhere. I wouldnt be surprised to see Samuels go and I dont think it would be the worst thing in the world. Mainly because his career has been on the downslide the past couple of years (although that could have a lot to do with SS's faulty "blocking" schemes) and he'll have a HUGE impact in the team's salary cap the next couple of years. Gallery's contract would pale in comparison until the back end of the deal. All that said, I agree with most that say that defense is where we need the help -- dline and secondary. A pick up of Sean Taylor would suit me just fine...

I think Ramsey, by himself, is still worth more than the #1 pick in the draft. He's better than Manning and Rothleisberger for our offense b/c he's more able to play NOW and he's got a rocket arm and is intelligent. Gibbs doesn't want to spend time having a #2 QB who is a rookie.
By the way, I think we should try and trade up for a higher pick, if we can keep teh #5 pick, but pick FITZGERALD instead of Gallery. |

Ramsey also still has some faults he needs to work on (he holds on to the ball way too long, is not very good at side stepping the pass rush around him and is very slow footed). Gibbs obviously saw these flaws and that is why he gave up so much for Brunell, to give Ramsey more time to develop. I also think Ramsey will not want to resign with us when his contract is up. I think Ramsey feels he deseved the starting job and has been cheated out of it. As much as Ramsey respects Gibbs, he might want to prove him wrong with another team for demoting him now. With that in mind, if Ramsey has huge trade value now, it might be worth at least hearing what other teams would give up for him. If he does not resign with us when his contract is up, what good is developing him into a star QB and losing him for nothing. Last edited by Defensewins; 04-14-2004 at 04:52 PM. |

Lets see how much faith Gibbs instils in his players. I think now that we have Gibbs players will want to play for us and think we have a good chance of winning. Ramsey is in a good position to show everyone what it means to be a Redskin. I hope he does.

As well as coping with all the draft rumours which make it to this side of the Atlantic, I now find myself having to cope with all you lot making up your own trade/draft scenarios too! I particularly chuckle at the monster 5 players/draft spots each side which seem to be appearing as people pluck names out of a hat to see who can outdo who. I am now at the point of ignoring any further speculation as 99% of it will come to nothing anyway, so there's no point in worrying about it. Everyone just calm down and have faith!!!

I assume you are from England (correct me if I am wrong) or another small country near there . With all the tabloid press you have in England, I would think you would be used to rumors and exaggerations. No need to get upset, we are just discussing different hypothetical draft scenarios. |

I hope to god we do not trade Ramsey or Samuels. Both are leaders on the team and it would be a blow to continuity and, dare I say it, Gibb's credibility. As to Gardner and Iffy, fine but only if we are keeping No. 5 or better and not trading away next year's number one. Trotter and Candidate are gone anyway if we can get an extra 6th or 7th for them - great.
Although in the past I have leaned towards trading manipulations to gain us some extra picks, I am to the point where I think we stand pat pick Taylor, Winslow or Harris and then the rest of take Saturday off. |

And Ramsey is worth a first rounder, we've been offered first rounders for him this year. If we wanted to get rid of Ramsey it would not be hard, I dont see the logic in doing so though. Im so tired of teh turnaround. Everytime we think we could get a better player we get rid of ours. Our team will be ten times better with the same group of players then changing them all the time becuase one might have had a better prevoius year.
