Re: Safe to watch a game in Philly?
I went to the Eagles game many years ago on a bus when the Chief was beaten up pretty badly and I will never go again. They tried to turn our bus over in the parking lot. I even saw a female Skins fan get cracked on the head with a beer bottle.

Also, don't leave your car with texas plates there. (or virginia.) I saw philly play dallas there at the vet, and it was the only time I ever did not root against the eagles!

Re: Safe to watch a game in Philly?
In fact I went to law school in philly and i'd of felt safer in Beruit. Had to watch games on satelite in my basement without getting too loud. I was in a bar with a buddy from NY (giants fan) when the eagles lost to the rams in a championship game. He was loudly cheering for the Rams and when they won people started throwing stuff at us. Someone stepped up and my buddy said something he should not have and people from the crowd rained blows on him. I got between the two, told the folks he was sorry and that I would take him home. There was a pause, then someone sucker punched me (i had my hands full with these two guys) then punched and kicked me while I put my head down and pushed to the door. Philly is a 3rd world city and it's people know it.

Re: Safe to watch a game in Philly?
If there's one thing Skins and Cowboys fans can unite on, it's a hate of the Eagles and everything that stands for them.
Honestly, there's a lot of Cowboys fans around where I live, most are civil, MANY are misguided. There's a few Philly fans here too. Give me a Cowboy fan any day.

Re: Safe to watch a game in Philly?
I live in New Jersey 10 minutes outside of Philly, I have gone to games and rooted for my Skins and I have worn my team colors, but to Eagles fans, Cowboys fans are the worse, I can say you won't be alone in wearing your team's colors, but just one word of advice.... Keep your mouth shut, unless you do have a group.

Re: Safe to watch a game in Philly?
i have said it before, I hate the cowboys, but i hate philly fans, I can talk to dallas fans but eagle fans- you can't talk to those fools, That damn thread is still on top on that stupid iggle site, i post every couple days....http://www.concretefield.com/forum/i...opic=16088.760 The dallas fan might want to cheer for his team here and see what kind of abuse he gets.
I am the kind of person that is allittle stupid, if someone talks shit i rarely "back down" i usually tell some kind of joke or something to lighten the mood but some people are not capable of being talked to. I know that if I was at the game i would not be able to control myself and would go crazy and if someone told me to sit down i would just cheer louder. that is why i can't go to the linc also some dallas fan thought we were threatning them by saying "please don't came to fedex in december", we weren't saying we were gonna beat you down, it was just saying there are alot of damn dallas fans there. we would like less that is it, this site one of the few that actually don't go crazy on rival fans. Even if a some of us members go crazy the mods always are keeping the peace at that eagle site the mods edge it on. by the way, being a dallas fan you would be lucky to get out without sort of physical harm toward you |

Re: Safe to watch a game in Philly?
I don't know about Lincoln Field, but I've been to four or five games at the vet. I always wore my Skins stuff. Just don't get overly aggressive with anyone unless your with a group and near security. Ignore all the drunks (there are alot of them). They are the worst, and the crowd loves to egg them on.
You can expect to be called just about every name in the book. And plan on wearing beer and anything else that they sell there. At one game when Randal Cunningham received a late hit the crowd turned on a group of us Skin's fans as if we gave him the late hit. It was ugly for awhile. Might of had something to do with a couple of the guys in our group throwing pork chops on the field before the game started. ( It was the game right after Buddy Ryan was reported to have chocked on a pork chop.) |

Re: Safe to watch a game in Philly?
Really, it's just not worth it. Period. All of the horror stories you hear are true. By wearing your colors or cheering for your team, you're just asking to get into a fight. Even if you have the thickest skin in the world and completely tune them all out, you're still going to get beer dumped on you and things thrown at you. If you try arguing with them, you're probably going to get into a fight. And the problem is, the "security" there will NOT help you until you are getting beaten by a number of "fans". They simply won't. They just sit there and laugh because that's what this city takes pride in.
Another factor is where you sit. If you get good seats, you'll be sitting around a much better (but still terrible) class of people. If you get up into the cheap seats, there really isn't any telling what will happen to you short of nobody has died yet. That's really not a joke either. Nobody has been killed yet, but that's about all I can say. So knowing that the best case scenario is you get your jersey ruined, heckled for 3+ hours, have a variety of things thrown at you, and get to hang out with the drunkest, most unreasonable idiots to actually follow an NFL team........and worst case scenario you end up in a hospital or in jail........I repeat my statement that it's just not worth it. Stay home and get a better view in a more comfortable, safe environment. Us skins fans have a chance (if we have friends who are Eagles fans and we go in a group), but Cowboys fans really don't. When I go, I wear a Penn State jersey and get glared at because I'm not wearing ugly Eagle green.

Re: Safe to watch a game in Philly?
Wear one of those Dallas Cowboys hard hats. And get a chin strap for it. You might need it. Have fun and good luck.

Re: Safe to watch a game in Philly?
wear a green poncho over all your silver and hold your cheers in. wait till the end of 4th quarter then rip the green off. bring a stun gun.
