Re: 2011 NFL Free Agency-Part 2
I'd prefer resigning J. Brown over Blades but it's cool.

I'd prefer signing Nnamdi over both.

Where's Cromartie, Cullen Jenkins, Braylon Edwards, Brian Waters, and Ryan Harris going. Thats what I want to know now that Nnamdi is gone.

So you're cool with the prospect of Clint Oldenburg starting in Week 1 against Tuck/Pierre-Paul/Kiwanuka/Umenyiora if he ends his holdout?

Re: 2011 NFL Free Agency-Part 2
And lets just trade for Peyton Manning so we have a starting quarterback too.

Re: 2011 NFL Free Agency-Part 2
noteable FAs (tell me if any are off the market or i missed someone):
* = could help the skins Code:
QB volek (he's 35), orton* (requires a trade) RB Addai, m barber, a bradshaw ($$), r brown (dolphins want him), green-ellis (RFA, 2nd round), j harrison*, m hart, c williams FB j kuhn, l mcclain, l vickers, l weaver WR a bryant, plax*, b edwards*, m floyd, housh, v jackson (FFA), j jones, d mason, r moss, NYG smith TE k boss, pope, spach PK P sepulveda, koch OT K barnes, blalock, heyer, brown*, andrews, willis OG davis, jean-gilles, lutui*, mathis C o'hara DE jenkins DL tapp DT hovan, p williams NT hoke*, f evans LB ayodele, barnett*, burnett*, cooper, lawson*, mcintosh* morrison, peterson, m peterson, thorton, tulloch*, CB buchanon*, cromartie, houston*, jennings*, marshall, rogers FS pool, whitner*, williams, e wilson, g wilson if we can get orton or addai, great - but there's no use tossing big money at skill positions or at guys we don't really need (I'd LOVE witner, but you know, having 3 starting safeties at full price is kind of stupid). however, if you can get cheap backups like harrison at RB, hoke at NT, lutui as a cheap OG and an LB or two (still like tulloch), that'd be ideal and pretty cheap. if we resign buchanon, rocky, and brown I'd be down with that, or swap buchanon for houston or jennings I'm pretty sure they're letting mcintosh walk though, so bringing in a quality ILB is sort of important. FA LBs of reasonable quality are usually pretty cheap though, we just need to get a body or two from the big pool of average/decent that's available. outside of addai, i don't think there's anyone outside of the afforable/cheap range... last i heard plax was offered 3/5per year (6mill min, up to 10mill w/ incentives, 2 year deal with a team option), which would be a bargain if he can produce his average statline. Re: 2011 NFL Free Agency-Part 2
I think we're fine at RB, Helu is my personal candidate for breakout Redskin of the year, provided he stays healthy of course, and Rocky is definitely out of place in the 3-4 as an ILB, so he's probably gone too. Reports indicate Perry Riley has been promoted to first team ILB, and I think he has a shot of doing well. He impressed in limited time last year and we drafted him to play ILB in a 3-4 so we'll see what he's got. And Mike Sellers is a free agent? I never saw any indication he was released, just heard they're moving him to TE though. I think we could still use another guard and we need to sign either Jammal Brown or Ryan Harris to fill the void at RT, but other than that we're set.
Right now our starting defense projects like this: Bowen - Cofield - Carriker Orakpo - Fletcher - Riley - Kerrigan D. Hall - Atogwe - Landry - Wilson, unless they sign another corner. Only holes we have left to fill are RT, possibly another guard, and maybe Braylon Edwards if they're still interested in him? Doubful on Edwards but you never know.

Re: 2011 NFL Free Agency-Part 2
Quote:
RT = brown, OG = lutui (mainly as depth/competition, the starting OG market is pretty dry right now unless you want a 330 pounder, which isn't mike's style). at LB you probably want a vet as both competition and failure/injury insurance, cause we saw what happened when we were short OL guys and started pulling them off the street and starting them... ugly. just like harrison or hoke would be purely depth, i think there's still 5-7 more vets coming in that way at vet min to ~2.5mill/year. the only big signing left might be a modest b edwards deal, but honestly, a loser with 14 other WRs might not be super attractive and donte/gaffney/AA/hankerson will be fine as our #2-5 if that's what we end up with. Though we'll have to keep 6 WRs either way, since donte can only play about 6 games in a year (fragile). |
