Re: Coaching Staff update
I feel like we hired this guy just to hire someone, not because we really wanted him.

Re: Coaching Staff update
Any particular reason for this, or just the normal redskins cynicism? I tend to be optimistic this time of year, but I think that most, if not all, of these hires show reflective thought, and not just the throw up the hands and hire someone mentality. Looking at the production each individual coach has gotten from players during their tenure, it sure seems offensively that they all have a pretty good grasp on getting the most out of the players they have been responsible for.

As for the 2nd point, it's not like Foerster was calling BINGO last week. He was an OL coach, looking at film and probably packing for the shrine bowl and senior bowl. I don't know what style he brings, but if every other coach they brought in fits with what they intend to do, and any intelligent football guy knows that the OL has to be functioning for their offense to go, I think Shanahan understands what he wants in a line coach. Could I be wrong, sure. In fact the SF website had a full thread bashing this guy-in addition to the one post quoted earlier, so he could be the next Stan Hixon, or the fans could be wrong and it could have been his players. I guess I am not going to get down on a guy who hasn't even unpacked his bags yet. |

but I will agree his resume seems nice and hopefully Shanahan's system is also plug and play like the players positions. |

bugel taught the zone as well.. I remember a few years ago our linemen saying that they loved it The guy obviously had some knowledge going from the indy TE job to getting a coordinator job.. granted the phins didn't have a great team then.. it was also one in which the HC got the boot mid-season.. and it is going from TE coach to coordinator the jury is still out but I'm not going to pretend to know his body of work and instantly think that he sucks big whoop if the first 2 candidates didn't want to come here.. that happens all of the time.. that doesn't mean that there are only 2 good line coaches in the NFL.. i know that coaches and players are different but haven't we gotten upset when we just got the big name instead of the right fit? maybe he's a good fit, we'll have to see.. we don't even know who is going to be on our line at this point, silly to speculate heavily |

Plus I like the write up on him but statistics are made to be twisted to look good. I'm glad we have Kyle Shanahan cause he had the #4 ranked "passing" offense. However his "rushing" offense was worse then ours this year, and we couldn't run the ball. We were ranked like 26th and they were ranked 28th I think. I feel safe knowing Mike Shanahan provides an awsome running scheme, and Kyle provides an awsome passing scheme. I guess what I'm saying is I'm sure there was a nice flowery write up about Vinny Cerrato on Redskins.com. A nice beautiful write up about Zorn and many others. So I think we have to look into what the situation around him was. Plus I don't think I could work for San Frans HC. So the write up might be nice and exciting but I think we need to see why he was let go from the other teams. |

Face it, if it wasn't the O-Line coach from the Colts, plenty of people would have something to say negatively; hell even if it was people would wonder why the guy left. |

Perhaps it's nice to know what the negatives are. With M.Shanahan we know his running game was awsome but his passing game was good but not awsome. With K.Shanahan we know his passing offense is awsome but his running game was simply good. So hopefully between the two they can put together a team that has an excellent running and passing attack. But it will all center around who the OL coach is, how good of a coach he is, does he teach the scheme Shanahan needs to get this whole offensive scheme working or will there be issues with different philosophies? |

Re: Coaching Staff update
I have seen nothing from the recent hires to make me less optimistic. Shanny said he was going after the best, and everyone so far seems to have nice creditials. Last year we had coaches in new positions which I think was a problem and didn't really instill a lot of confidence. I can't wait to see these guys in action. Coach 'em up!

The guy has a solid resume, simply based on his credentials seems like a move that's hard to hate on

The Redskins have announced the hiring of Jacob Burney as the defensive-line coach and Bob Slowick as defensive-backs coach.
