Re: Who is Kirk Cousins?

Well, how many people on this forum and no doubt throughout the fan base have doubted KC's ability to fill this role (myself included)? He is definitely making some changes in that thinking with his performance of late.....

Re: Who is Kirk Cousins?

Oh I agree he is taking steps no doubt, however I am just saying that the jury is not out totally.

I think what also adds to severity of the situation is that he is about to be a free agent so there is pressure to make that call on him sooner than later. The decision right or wrong is going to have to be made soon.

I agree that Cousin's still has not proven that he is a long term solution, but for at least the next 2 years, he is likely the best option. I think we need to sign him before his value gets too inflated. If he isn't asking for a top 10 contract, I'd sign him today. We still have a lot of needs on this team before we take a shot at an elite talent QB coming out of college, and who else is there? If he doesn't pan out after another 2 years, hopefully the rest of the team is good enough for a young talented QB to come in an excell. I don't think there is really much to consider at this point. He may always be the hot and cold QB he is now, and hell, he may even regress, but that won't mean it was the wrong decision.

Does anyone know if they are in contact talks at all right now, what the skins are offering, and what Cousins is asking for?

Cousins been really good at home...needs to play much better on the road. That goes for Jay too.

Teams we played on road were better than the ones we played at home. Don't think the home vs. away difference is a big deal, will play out over time.

Re: Who is Kirk Cousins?

This was straight up a great team win. Everyone did their job and the mistakes were minimal which isn't something we as Skins fans are accustomed to. When this team is on, it's fun to watch, the catch is it's primarily been against low caliber teams. With that being said I am solidly confident the team could surprise some people and take down the Panthers next week and then have the team in firm control of their own destiny with a majority of the games remaining being against the division. The next 7 weeks will could go really well for us if the right team takes the field.

Re: Who is Kirk Cousins?

Bad defense of not. The NFL doesn't hand out perfect passing ratings like candy. They are earned through great play.

Not to mention Kirk Cousins. The current QB of the Washington Redskins is the only QB this year to post a perfect passing rating with a minimum of 20 attempts.

So, wether he meets the standards of some of the critics on here or not. He's been impressive this year at times.

Oh, and for the "consistency " crowd....

Cousins last 3 games:
109 QB Rating
800+ yards
9 Touchdowns
1 INT (dropped pass)

The whole.. He needs to win on the road argument is kinda crap since the winning part involves more then just Kirks performance. It starts with Gruden, and goes down to the other 53 players. Not just the one guy who has been playing solid this year.

It's not a fuckin argument, it's a fuckin fact. Look at the numbers home vs away. It's wildly disproportionate. Yes starts with Jay, everything starts with Jay. But cousins needs to play better on the road

Re: Who is Kirk Cousins?

Clearly, Kirk's pending free agency is a topic of discussion amongst those who matter in such issues.

John Keim, ESPN Staff Writer
Redskins coach Jay Gruden says of Kirk Cousins' pending free agency: "Kirk is a guy you'd like to keep around, no doubt. That's up to Scot (McCloughan), Kirk's agent and Kirk."

Re: Who is Kirk Cousins?

Bottom line is for some fans Cousins will never be the guy..they want some flashy name player..cousins is pretty vanilla and probably won't be voted to pro bowl every year and you won't see him in a bunch of tv commercials..that is fine with me!! So to the cousin doubters..keep on doubting..I will keep on cheering!! and for what it is worth the game this weekend will be very hard for the Redskins to win..the panthers from top to bottom are better than skins ..but mark my words if we lose it will be all blamed on Cousins. I think we have a chance only if the D can play great and the Running game is on..if we try and win on kirks back alone ..aint gonna happen.

Re: Who is Kirk Cousins?

Cooley seems convinced that there could be talks going on right now for an extension and that it is going to happen before the season is over.

If Cousins is willing to do a 1-2 year extension right now, I would say go for it. The problem, or should I say dilemma materializes if he holds out on signing anything and ends up finishing the with a really strong season and then another team out there is willing to commit to him long term.

Cousins is a classy guy and knows he has a good thing going on in Washington, he would give the Redskins a chance to negotiate first.

there is no chance Cousins signs a 1 or 2 year extension. His contract will be 4 years minimum .... barring the very long shot franchise tag.
