I think it came down to his perceived work ethic... Shanahan had seen enough...

This. The perception is that DMac would have been given time to learn the new system if he had shown interest in doing so.

The "punishment" by the league : "It's like getting a ticket for going too fast on a road a week ago and they changed the speed limit today"

Just curious. How many Redskins fans on this board are planning on not watching and/or not rooting for the Redskins in Week 1 because they feel McNabb didn't get a fair chance? If you are truly rooting for McNabb, go watch the Vikings. See if he gets a fair shot there instead.

Go watch the Vikings?? Yeah right, Ive been a diehard longer then any of homotional lames. Fact is, we gave up a 2nd round pick for NOTHIN, I dont give a rats azz about McNabb. But it's retarded to expect the man to be great in one season surrounded by the garbage ass players he was surrounded by. If we gave up a 4th or lower, oh well....but a second round pick is bonafied starter, a starter more then likely we gave to the Eagles, a division rival...

Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3

So if Shanny is unhappy with his work ethic in year one... it makes perfect sense to keep him around a second year because everyone works harder in his second year... right? Ya, it was a mistake. They regret making the move. But they're smart enough to not to keep making the same mistake. You only get one chance to prove you're a hard worker.

I dont know, probably not, it was just that they came to the conclusion so quick and straight up destroyed him in the media. I was just like, there was no way the FO could get any kind of intel on McNabb before pulling the trigger for a 2nd round pick? We couldnt find out that he moved slow in between plays or that he had a tendency to throw ducks or passes towards the ground? All the stuff they did not like, everyone around league knew. Fans included. And if we were gonna give away that high of a pick, why not keep him at least a second year, even if we didnt start him. I dont know, I just felt like how I felt with the whole Jason Taylor situation.....

What is this a pissing contest? We're on the internet, we're all diehards here. How long you've been one doesn't matter. Why are you still so upset about the past? It's over and done with, move on. Focus on the team that we have at the present. Are you still upset over giving Miami a 2nd rounder for a 1 year Jason Taylor rental too? I get it, obviously it was a bad move. But McNabb doesn't play here anymore, so it's in the past. Why worry about a guy who is going to have no impact on the team you root for?

No pissing contest at all....And Im not worried about McNabb...never was (He's an Eagle and always will be)...I'AM worried that we just threw away a 2nd round pick for nothin. And that I never could understand how all these fans and analyst threw him under the bus when he played with such a garbage supporting cast. That's all I was sayin...yall are the ones telling people to go watch the Vikings, just because we're voicing our opinions....you say that we're all die hard fans, then you shouldnt be surprised when a die hard fan gets pissed if they're told they should watch another team. Yeah right, I live and breath Redskins, all day everyday.

I loathe mcnabb almost as much as I do haynesworth. Haynesworth was an open turd. Mcnabb was also a turd... But a two-faced one: publically a posterboy but privately a selfish egotistical lazy turd. I'm glad hes gone.
