Re: The Haskins Thread
Haskins has his best game against a decent team who HAD TO WIN to stay in a playoff position in the crappy NFC East. In just his 6th NFL game he posted a QB rating of 121 (max is 154) with 2 TD’s, no INT and NO sacks. He showed grit and situational awareness in a critical running play in the red zone, that helped lead to a TD. He also had two passes go through the hands of Steve Sims, including one in the end zone (although Sims redeemed himself later with a great catch in the back of the end zone).
I am curious first about all the posters who thought the team should SIT Haskins for his entire first season or more. What do you say now? There are others, including myself, who have questioned whether he had that “it” factor to be an elite QB. One game does not a career make and we’ll have to see if he can keep it up next week against the Giants. After this season he and Redskins fans has some things to look forward to in 2020: 1. I believe the Redskins will make a FA play for the best TE available in the NFL. This will help out his passing game because we have awful TE game-fillers right now, who can’t get open, nor catch, nor block. Reed and Davis are done. 2. I believe Snyder will hire a offensive-centered HC, who can only help improve this offense and Haskins. 3. Depending on whether we are in a draft position to draft Chase Young or whether he even IS in the year’s draft, I believe we’ll draft OT Andrew Thomas or the best OT available. He’ll go into Trent’s or Mose’s spot. I think we.’ll draft two OL draft picks to solidify the OL with new talent and youth. 4. Haskins will be able to work on his QB skills in the off season. His performance today was impressive and I might remind everyone that even QB greats like Peyton Manning has TERRIBLE rookie seasons. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: The Haskins Thread
I'm curious on the grading of happiness this week.
He looked much improved. Will be interesting to see how it goes. Anecdotally, he seems to be improving. Not being excited about anything with this team, I'm open to being excited about him in the future... Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Re: The Haskins Threat
Major improvement, he didn't take any sacks, and didn't have any interceptions. The footwork and throwing motion are becoming more consistent. He still threw off his back foot and side armed a couple short passes. As his fundamentals improve and become more consistent, so does the accuracy, amazing! The arm strength is nuts. I seems like he can throw a 30 yard dart with just a flick of the wrist.

Re: The Haskins Threat
He looked very promising to me on Sunday.
There is absolutely no doubt that he has an NFL arm. Beyond that, his footwork was better for the most part, although it failed him at some key times in the game. His progressions in his reads is much improved. He went to secondary receivers more than ever. He needs to speed up his reads but that is coming. To me, the speed of the NFL game is giving him the most trouble right now but he is adjusting to it. His accuracy is improving. In fact he made some outstanding throws in this game, some of which were caught and some of which were dropped. He's starting to recognize what the defense is trying to do and reacting to it. I love the way he plays the game! He competes at a high level and he really enjoys playing football. I think he's becoming a real leader. Yes, that's right, I am on the Haskins Bandwagon. |

MY narrative won't change next week! I think he is a very solid prospect who simply needs hard work, experience and time to develop.

Re: The Haskins Threat
He showed he can make 3 step drop quick throws .. when his first read is open and the read is in front of him.
He throws off his back foot. Is that just who he is? He throws off his back foot when theres no pressure. Like its just his natural throwing mechanics. Hes calm in the pocket, keeps his eyes down field well for a rookie. He fit some balls into some tight spaces that when it works, great throw .. if it doesnt, hes forcing it. Yesterday, it worked for him. ------------------ Its good to see him "see it, throw it" this game but Id like to see him take the next step and throw guys open and throw to a space where the WR hasnt broke yet.

Re: The Haskins Thread
He’s had steady improvement and his best game against a decent team. He’s only been in 6 games and he posts a 121 QB rating. He will have hiccups as a rookie, but I’m encouraged.
I seriously doubt the Redskins will use a high draft pick for QB. They may go for a project QB. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Dan Snyder was part of the Haskins draft pick, but at the time this was well received by the media, with some sports articles listing the Redskins as having an “A” draft grade for the 2018 draft. Look at who is playing in this team NOW, from that draft class and UDFA - Haskins, Sweat,MCLAURIN, HARMON, Martin, HOLCOMB, Steve Smith. THIS HAS BEEN AN OUTSTANDING ROOKIE CLASS! The key person, in my eyes, is KYLE SMITH, the Scouting Manager. The team has had excellent pickups in the last 2 seasons under his direction. I’m for making him the GM. I still believe Bruce Allen will be fired and his place taken over formally or informally by Alex Smith. We shall see! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

3 years form now, Terry may be the only guy on the team or Haskins/Sweat are both busts playing back up roles (2 1st R and 2nd R = not contributing)
