Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread
Royster seems to know the plays and he follows his blockers well. That's about it. He lacks speed, quickness, and explosion. Right now, he's just a lesser version of ATV.
Helu has the speed and quickness that this team could use from one of its backs. I'm hoping that he develops and is able to provide us with a big play threat, both running and receiving, out of the backfield. |

We're gonna have to be patient with Hankerson. He needs work, there was a reason he lasted til the 3rd round.

Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread
No what we are going to do is keep Stallworth on the team and put Niles on the PS. Second week there is an injury and we trade Stallworth for a 3rd rounder. Then Niles is on the squad.

Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread
Honestly I could see Hankerson going to the PS, unless he steps up his play in camp and in pre-games I don't think we have to worried about a team picking him up

Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread
No chance Hank goes on the PS. They would lose him in 2 seconds. WR's take time...even ones drafted in the top 5 let alone the 2nd or 3rd round. They will use the PS for a later round draft pick that they have a better chance of stashing on there without losing.

Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread
Stallworth is a keeper. Austin should be safe on the practice squad whereas Hankerson and Paul will not be. Banks is too valuable as a specialist.

Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread
You guys are reading too much into just 2 weeks into training camp and 1 pre season game. Hank is probably just trying to hard and when you get the drops going it gets into your head. A couple of good practices or a good game and he will be fine.

Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread
Hankerson hasn't had a chance to participate in all the mini camps that usually occur before training camp and is being thrown into the fire. Give the kid a chance, he'll get better. I like Paul as a sleeper.

Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread
The problem as I see it is this: In my many years of following the NFL, I have seen that WR's who start off dropping a lot of passes continue to drop a lot of passes, for as long as their careers last.

Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread
I thought Grossman performed as expected. I've never worried about Rex as a QB when he doesn't have to face pressure or multiple blitz formations coming at him.
No way they put Hankerson on the PS

On a side note, the Jabar Gaffney trade I think was a really good one. We got a solid veteran receiver who has rapport with Rex (played together at UF) and is a very polished route runner. We got a guy who had 65 catches last year for a guy who probably wasn't going to make our team. Not bad.
