Re: Who is Kirk Cousins?
Don't want to hijack this thread but since Rambo was brought up, I will say that when we drafted him most analysis on him said that is was purely based on potential because of his athleticism and physicality. He definitely was not an NFL-ready player, not even by rookie standards.
With that said, not every team is in a good position to sit around and wait for someone to take 3 seasons to blossom. If I remember correctly, when he was drafted, injuries at the position forced him into a role he was clearly not ready for. The ideal situation for a rookie Rambo would have been a late round draft pick up for a team that is already pretty solid in their secondary so he could sit back learn the system, hone is skills, and then slowly be implemented into the game. I think him being cut from our team was justified at the time. It doesn't mean he still didn't have potential to be a good player one day, it just wasn't a good fit here. Also, before we go crowning him a "stud" He has still looked prety iffy at numerous times this season. One great game will not define him. |

Re: Who is Kirk Cousins?
Rambo has been good in Buffalo in general, not just in this one game. I think it's a matter of coaching and scheme fit. Say what you want about Rex but the guy gets a lot out of his defensive talent.

Re: Who is Kirk Cousins?
Good for Rambo, unfortunately teams don't always have the luxury of giving guys time to develop especially when they are late bloomers. That said I could care less about what he's doing.

Yes but I should have left it alone. I deleted this because your answers include the questions and should be sufficient to continue the thread.
Thanks for answering the original post.

Re: Who is Kirk Cousins?
[QUOTE=Schneed10;1129139]Yes. Would it be prudent to do otherwise?
If they decided not to sign a QB who finished the year with say 18 TDs and 23 INTs, and a record of 6-10, then I'd say the rebuilding process was already set back. Throwing good money at such a QB would be a terrible decision. If they decided not to sign a QB who finished with a flourish, then obviously that would be a dumb decision. Are you kind of getting the pattern that it makes sense to wait for all information from the final 7 games to come in? Every fan's worst fear right here. If Cousins is horrible down the stretch then we can resign him for cheap, maybe he'll turn into something in a few years. And it's back to the draft... again. He could very well do that. But when I assess the personalities involved, I don't find a cut-throat negotiation very likely. You're absolutely right, if he shreds it the last 7 games then he'll have a very strong position. But if you sign him now, even if you sign him for less, you are taking a pretty big risk. What if he flops down the stretch? He's getting his first chance to start this year, he's taken a lot of strides. But one thing we've still not seen is how he'll do late in the season with playoff implications on the line. Can he rise to the big moment? You're assessing the risk that we might have to pay out the ear to keep him, because your glasses are so burgundy & gold that you can barely think of any other scenario than Kirk shredding it. While I hope in my heart of hearts that's the case, you have to consider the possibility that he shrinks under the spotlight, or simply goes back to failing to take care of the ball. It's prudent to wait. If he costs us $16M per year instead of $12M, it means that he did well this year and is proving he can be the man. What a nice problem to have. A terrible problem to have would be commit $12M per year to a guy who reveals himself to be the next Mark Sanchez. Let's wait and see.[/QUOTE I think I finally understand what you're saying. You're right, it is prudent to wait. Just about anything could happen between now and when it's time to negotiate.

Re: Who is Kirk Cousins?
For those of us out of towners that don't have NFL ticket, it looks like our game will be the local fox game for the majority of the country. I remember seeing a commercial a few days back showing Dallas vs. Miami as the top billed game, but I Washington vs. Carolina definitely has more intrigue and the networks have recognized it.

I'm happy he fits in with what Buffalo is trying to do with him. When he picked off Aaron Rodgers twice last year I knew the reasons why. Rambo is truly a great safety.

Re: Who is Kirk Cousins?
Wow slow gown on the kool-aid. Rambo has been toasted a few times this yr he's still an avg player at best. He's playing around way more talent in Buffalo.
