It wasn't for these billionaires there wouldn't be the NFL! Or Dell or Microsoft or GM or what ever!!! These men put thier ass on the line! It would be like you putting together a high paying law firm and lawyers telling YOU what and how you will pay them! I am not for owners I am for a man being able to run his buisness with in the law! Setting how much he pays his workers! Not having anyone like Government come in and set pay rates! If the players wanted to set up thier own league and it is good then it will beat out the owners! More power to them!!!

#1. If it wasn't for the players, there wouldn't be football games worth watching.

#2. The owners put their asses on the line? What NFL owner hasn't made bundles on the acquisition of a team?

#3. I'm not sure how the whole law thing comes into play.

All I am saying is I just haven't taken a side in this fight. All sides are being greedy. I don't care who "wins."

Not about winning it's about both sides getting a fair contract so we can watch football!

Exactly. I care less about what side feels vindicated by the outcome of the negotiations. All I care about is watching football and knowing what players we will have and what players we will lose.

Question......If the players get a higher % of the cap dose that set the cap? Why dose the NFL just make the cap this season 100 mill...why is it set at 94.5? Who set that that cap if no CBA is done?

The old (current) CBA does not expire until after the 2007 season.

Everyone in this labor dispute has someone looking out for and protecting what is supposedly their best interest except us, the fans. Too bad we don't have a Union to protect our interest because when it's all said and done, all projected revenue is predicated on fan participation, and generated through the support of the fan. The owners wouldn't have much to own without us.

Well stated. If only we were less passionate about football. We have spoiled these jerks by shelling out ridiculous amounts of money for tickets and merchandise. I for one, can't help myself, though.

Now the NFLPA and management have come to an agreement. The only obstacle to an agreement is now the owners. So, should I start a thread about the owners being dumb and/or stupid?

That Guy:

You were right on target when you said that without a CBA the NFL is ripe for an anti-trust suit. Please recall that the NFL was found guilty of anti-trust violations back in the 1980s in the suit filed against them by the USFL. For those who don't recall or weren't around at the time, the NFL LOST that case. Things havent' changed much since then so the league could be sued again by a rival league if things head off into an "uncapped year".

The owners are a bunch of rich egoists; the players are a bunch of spoiled brats who feel entitled to things because of their athletic prowess. It's hard to root for either side here.

But something better happen soon or the whole ball of yarn may start to unravel...

of course, by the time the USFL won its case it had already gone bankrupt, kinda what you'd term as a hollow victory.
