Re: Isaac Bruce Released
R'el's WR production is that of a #3. you can only throw a few trick passes a year, and i think we'd really be better served by a better receiving guy. plax and ward didn't have trouble posting better numbers.
He'd be a returner and that'd be a major plus, but he really wants to be a #2, an patten is probably a better straight up WR than him. |

Re: Isaac Bruce Released
I see your points about Randel-El, but I still like him a lot. He's so versatile and explosive that it's hard not to be tempted by him.
Also, remember the last wideout we picked up who didn't have great career numbers and who was pegged as the #3 wideout before he ws traded to us? Santana Moss is his name. I'm not saying that R.E. is the next Sanatana Moss, but I wouldn't rely solely on his stats in assessing his worth. Additionally, remember the knock on Burress? It was said that Burress was a disappointment, a guy with tremendous athletic ability who just didn't produce. His stats weren't great before he went to NYC. Character issues aside, I'd say he's worked out really well for the Giants. Ultimately, as with all free agents, whether I'd support going after him depends on his price. If he's looking for #1-type money, forget him. But, if he can be had for a reasonable price, go for him. |

Re: Isaac Bruce Released
i'm not saying he couldn't have better numbers here, but he wants to be the #2 (i believe unquestioned) and here patten has a good chance to relegate him to a #3 role (and we don't use 3 WR as a base set, unlike indy or cincy).
In his interview he said the two most important things he wanted in a team were to be a starter and to be able to return punts. He wouldn't be a bad guy to have around, BUT with the limited FA market his price gets overinflated, and with a crappy WR draft, his price goes even higher. I'd say bruce is the unquestionable best WR out there right now. R'el is in the 2nd tier, but i'd take him over bryant at equal price cause he's a totally rock solid character and locker room guy. I don't think gibbs is even going to talk to bryants agent. |

Re: Isaac Bruce Released
This is all great but w/o the CBA, we will have Moss, Patten and Thrash again with some rookie in the 2nd round. If we get the CBA, i think you grab bruce for a few years and draft a wr in the second to develop. No pussy like Jacobs either! Moulds cries too much and Randle El has never been showcased enough to drop serious cash on. Plus, Randle El is basically a Moss type. He will be usless around the goal line.

Re: Isaac Bruce Released
I'm having problems with posting a link but I did locate the article on Issac Bruce, it' in today's WashingtonPost. The article headline reads: "Redskins FreeAgency Forecast Stays Cloudy" The latter portion of the article states the St. Louis Post Dispatch reported the Redskins had contacted Bruce's agent, Jimmy Sexton.
