Re: Redskins best free agent move
Technically, Lloyd comes as a trade, not a free agent, so he wouldn't be among the choice of "best free agent" on redskins.com.
Of the choices on this survey, I selected Lloyd not so much for talent as for where the offense and defense stand. Carter adds more pass rush to an already talented defense. They should be a top ten squad next season, but were top ten in the past two seasons. The offense has one and a half deep receiving threats (Moss & Cooley) to go with a power running game. After Patten's injury, opposing defenses stacked the line and double-triple covered Moss, but the offense couldn't make them pay. Lloyd & R-El both (should) add a new dimension to the passing game that will have a greater impact on the offense that Carter will on the D. Lloyd should emerge as the #2 WR. I see Randle-El and I think "Brian Mitchell;" versatile with his biggest impact on special teams. How soon before the season starts? :frusty: |

Im all about Brandon Lloyd! Ive been crowing about him since I found out he was an RFA at the end of last year! We'll just have to see if he gets a spot on my dynasty fantasy league team...

Re: Redskins best free agent move
I think picking up Randle-El was the best move so far, because I expect (just a prediction based on his past performance) him to have more of an impact on the entire team. I would suspect that the redskins' concern after the last few games was the offense, specifically the passing game (I know there maybe some arguments with this, but oh well). Well, if I assume this, the logical position of "need" on the team would be wideout - the 2nd/3rd wr (any productive wideout not named Santana). I thought the redskins d was kicking ass as usual even without a proven pass rusher, so I never considered their side of the field. This to me would be a strong argument for greatest impact because Randle-El would free up Moss, making the passing game stronger, which would free up the running game - with Portis and also taking off the pressure off of Brunell, which would also help the line, and so on.
But not only does he provide that, he adds that unpredictable/big play/surprise element to the offense that will surely take advantage of his skills ala Saunders - which would make his acquisition a two-fold impact. |

Re: Redskins best free agent move
It's got to be Randle El. You gotta love the smurfs!
Here's the thing with Lloyd: They had to give up 2 draft picks to get him, and then they had to pay him too (He's eating up more 2006 cap money than any of the other signings). I don't know if the guy brings anything special to the table (correct me if I'm wrong), and they probably could have found a more inexpensive FA, without trading anything. The Carter signing was smart and Arch is a great player, who's now in a great system. |

Re: Redskins best free agent move
All very true, but all I'm saying is someone like a david givens or an antonio bryant comes free of draft picks. Was he worth what we gave for him?

After all these signings, i truly believe that al saunders is the best pick up. if you look at what he has done with three "decent" recievers; watch out NFC East...you are lookign at 30 points minimum per game....portis will rush for 2200 yards....thanx danny s!!!!

I don't like giving up picks either, but gibbs saw something he must of really liked in him (REALLY liked, cause he's got some attitude issues they felt okay with). |

Re: Redskins best free agent move
The Eastern Motors organization needed an influx of original talent now that we don't have Lavar. So Brandon Lloyd has agreed to put together a single for them that will probably be track 3 on his new rap album.
And thus I submit that Brandon Lloyd is in fact the solution to Q3. |

I voted for Randle El predicated on the fact that he's now our best QB.

Re: Redskins best free agent move
I hope the worest move isn't doing anything more! We need a LB starter, nickel CB and back up DL and OL!
