Any Food Network fans?

First off, Paula Dean has the absolute best recipes on television. I've made alot of her stuff and everything has come out delicious.

I don't like emeril much, but the best meal out I've ever had was at K-Pauls. It's owned by Paul Prudhomme, an authentic cajun/creole chef. I've been replicating his recipes in my own home for years and he's by far my favorite chef. He used to have a TV show, but that may have been locally when I lived in SE texas.

I'm not sure if he's still in business since his shop was in New Orleans, but It was Very Reasonable and from what I hear his prices are always pretty fair and wow... You won't find a better blend of flavor in any kind of food in the world.... The depth and the way the peppers clean your palate after every bite...

sorry food is one of my passions...

If you're more than a novice in the kitchen I suggest you check out some of his recipes in Paul Prudhomme's Louisiana Kitchen. The Seafood and Andouille Gumbo and the Shrimp/Crawfish Etoufee' are my favorites. Chicken Etoufee' is pretty good too, just be prepared to take on an endevor with most of his meals to make them come out right.

Yeah, the REAL Iron Chef is absolutely nuts. "Tonight's secret ingredient is horse shit." And those guys would come up with a recipe for it.

For some reason I can't stand Iron Chef America. All I like is the original Iron Chef. I don't watch the show religiously or anything but I have yet to see a newbie beat an Iron Chef. Maybe I just don't watch enough. lol

I also like Rachel Ray's $40 a day (sort of. she seems kinda phony)

I think the challengers are close to .500 against the Iron Chefs. The Americans lose al lot more than the Japanese guys did. Poor Morimoto has no chance since he makes Japanese food which I am sure is incredbile but doesn't totally suit the American palate usually. The best all around chef is clearly Batali. He uses lots of different styles and tastes. By comparison both Flay, Cora and Morimoto pretty much stick to what they do best.

Yeah, Flay has some decent drink recipes, plus his wife (Stephanie March) is pretty hot too. If you ever watch Sandra Lee's show, she has a cocktail recipe towards the end. I think she's a big time drunk...

On my honeymoon, my wife and I went to Paula's restaurant in Savannah, The Lady & Sons. It was a 90 minute wait on a Tuesday night (good thing there was a beat up Irish pub next door!), but well worth it, as the food was incredible. My wife has made several things from one of her cookbooks, and they've all turned out great. I think she has stock in Land O' Lakes, with all the butter she uses.

My wife has made a bunch of Paula's stuff, my Mom too. I don't think I've ever had anything I've been disappointed in.

I'd love to go to Lady & Sons some day, my Dad went a year or two ago and he had a long wait too. They must rake in the bucks in that place.

The restaurant is 3 stories tall...seating and bar on each floor. Has to be able to seat between 2 and 300 people easily.

The new iron chef just have more choices for the secret ingredients; hence, the battle does not look as challenging. On the old show, there is only one secret ingredient....ie cabbage. And those chef would come up with 5 unique cabbage dishes.

When the series first opened, I believed Batali or Flay did beat Sakai. One thing I dislike about the new Iron Chef is the judging panel.... these "food critics" are not open minded and sometime bias. If something looks different or taste different, these judges will openly criticize the dishes. These judges are just not up to par being an epicureans and just do not know how to appreciate unusual delicacy. I've seen one of the judges refusing to taste a dish that was prepared raw....granted this is not fear factor but be open minded and take the palate test or not be part of the panel.

The reason I like the new one is because it's stuff I ACTUALLY eat. No, I've never had sea urchin, so I don't get hungry watching the Japanese one like I do the American one.
