Re: Once Again, kicking Game Let Us Down
Williamsons' drops masked how bad Rogers actually played. How did you like the little dance that Rogers did after Williamson dropped that bomb. I guess he should dance now since T.O. is next.
Also read that Brad Johnson wore his old Redskins jersey while leaving the Vikes locker room after the game! Must be sweet vindication for him... |

Re: Once Again, kicking Game Let Us Down
I think being a long fg attempt and halls history we should have gone for it on 4th and 1 . give it to duckett... then spike it and may have had chance for atleast 1 more if not 2 more passing plays to the sideline, if any completed thats closer for any fg attempt. no way am i saying i dont trust the play calling cuz im not a coach at all. and i still trust gibbs and co..

Re: Once Again, kicking Game Let Us Down
Hall missing the FG was regrettable, yeah, but there was no excuse for letting the game come down to that. We had every opportunity to lock that one up long before the final few seconds.
How about something like 5 redzone trips with one damn TD? Or how about letting the Vikings walk out with 9-17 3rd down conversions and being 4-13 ourselves? Those two major problems, an inability for the offense to score a TD when they're within smelling distance of the endzone, and the inability for the D to stop them on 3rd down is WAY more worrisome than Hall missing a 48-yarder.

A 48 yd filed goal is no gimme. This game should have never come down to a field goal let alone a 48 yard one. This team has a lot of work to do. |

Hall didn't lose the game for us. He shouldn't have been put in the situation against such a mediocre team anyways...BUT HE DID BLOW OUR CHANCE TO WIN.
I also say we give Novak a call. |

Re: Once Again, kicking Game Let Us Down
Ok we all know Frost had some bad kicks last year and we can only hope that he hits it better this year. With Hall I've tried thinking back through the past couple of years when Hall had missed a FG to cost us a game. I looked up his record last year and he missed two FG, one against SD we lost by 6 and one against STL we won by like 20. Yes his health has been a big problem but when he has been healthy he is not loosing games for us. If he can stay healthy I think he is going to be OK for us. His kick was way off but he had plenty of length to make it and I think it just seems bad because of all his prior health issues.

I don't understand all the "revenge" talk about Brad Johnson. This is the third time he's faced us since his release after the 2000 season. He and the Bucs whooped up on the Redskins in 2002 when Spurrier was coach, then they returned the favor in the opening game of '04.

I agree about Carlos Rogers. He needs to step up. However, John Hall has been letting us down for the past 2 seasons. I have doubts everytime Hall steps on the field.

Re: Once Again, kicking Game Let Us Down
You know, I've had it with all the 'Hall shouldn't have been put in that situation" talk. I mean really, exactly what situation is he supposed to be in anyway, kicking field goals with a 20 point cushion? Didn't we sign him to a lucrative contract to, well, win games when he's called upon? We don't ask him to tackle, we don't ask him to score touchdowns, hell we don't even ask him to kick off anymore. He's asked to do just one thing - one thing!
Yes, the offense should have and could have played better. Yes, Rogers and Taylor made some regrettable plays...or in Carlos' situation non-plays. But Hall, for crying out loud, should be able to nail a game winner...once in a while!!! I'm done with my rant. How you guys doing today? |

Re: Once Again, kicking Game Let Us Down
Did anyone honestly think Hall was gonna make that kick? Not me.
I think Hall is pretty solid from 40 in but that's about it. Anything further should be taken out of our playbook. It's not ideal but as long as we make most of the kicks inside 40 yards I think I can live with it. We're just gonna have to put up a lot of points and make sure we score in the redzone. As for Novak, I like the guy, but he's not the answer. His range is as bad (or worse) than Hall's. |
